They were produced from '64-'73....look on the bottom of the tank. There should be a month and year stamp on it. Doug

I missed this at first glance. It's marked 5 70. Thanks, any collector value? I gave $3.00 for it! There's some rust, but minimal, pump works, holds pressure. I'll clean it up, put on new mantles, and see if she'll burn.

Love Coleman Stuff

Postby Alfred » Mon Jul 20, 2009 5:20 pm

Man, I just love Coleman stuff. Its like the opposite of planned obsolescence, their stuff is designed to last forever.

I've got two of their old pump/gas stoves now, a propane lantern and a pump/gas lantern. Bought all of it used at different pawn shops and such, the pump/gas lantern was given to me as a 'free-cycle' item on Craigslist from someone cleaning out their garage, they were going to toss it.

I had to replace one of the pumps on one of the gas stoves, but other than than, no matter how dirty, they crank right up.

Looks like you got a great find!

Postby Frog » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:03 am

What fuel do you Coleman experts burn in the stoves and lanterns?

Uhhhh.....Coleman fuel. (Gasoline will work in a dual fuel appliance, but I dont use gas, I don't trust it not to explode.)
