Postby bobhenry » Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:45 pm

Stocking the galley with equipment.

I stumbled over this list for kitchen equipment for a well equiped kitchen.

While they were talking about a home kitchen I was amazed at how close it is to the needs of our little galleys.

Boy, if I brought all of that stuff I we wouldn't have any place to sleep!

We have used check lists for many years, updating them as needed. We have different lists for different camping trips based on whether or not we have any kind of hook-ups, and what time of year it is.

That's an entire kitchen!!

Pepper shaker? Pepper mill!!

Rather than carry all that food; I carry a list. Last city I hit before camping; I shop.

That listing might work with a 40' motorhome, but needs serious paring for weight.

Another good thing about lists are the lists you use to indicate the things you didn't need to bring and/or don't use...that you did bring.
Sadly, I always seem to overpack.

Bob,
Please bring all that stuff any time I am camping with you and I will gladly eat the wonderful food you prepare with that fully stocked galley of yours. Yes, it will be a sacrifice on my part but I simply hate to see so much kitchen equipment sitting idle.

You need to slim down.

1 C.I. pot
pepper and salt

That should about do it!

I've watched Gary & Trudy cook, and that's all they use!!!

I've never seen one of these before. Do you leave it out on the counter or refrigerate it? Does the water keep the butter soft? Pretty neat.

Postby doitright » Thu Oct 29, 2009 7:45 pm

That is about what I take camping use to cooking for 50 kids at scouts. I got to slim down my stuff. Went to lcg this last weekend had the Suburban full third seat out and back seat folded down. Full of cast iron, firewood, camp box and other stuff for cooking. I need to cut down so I can bring more wood. Is there a camping list? Or should I contact Trudy and Gary rayvillian.

I have used a butter crock for years. My wife called it a French butter dish. Works great, but she never refills the butter or the sugar bowl for that matter.
