But my good friend Barry of the New England Chapter has already done such a great job at starting the Ball Rolling that I'm going to start with a quote of his Post;Barry & Darby H. wrote:OK dudes and dudettes,
Tearstock is right around the corner and it's time to get our party on. First, for those of you who don't already know, firewood cannot be brought in from outside, it must be purchased there but that's a small price to pay seeings how our gracious hosts have elected to close the entire park and hand it over to the Tearjerkers that weekend.
I'm going to bring the "Big Grill" up that Len donated to the NE Chapter at Ross Hill last year and all are welcome to use it. Any charcoal donations will be gladly accepted. I'll grab a big bag to get things rolling along with some firewood for the community fire on Friday and Saturday night.
I'm going to put together a bit of a trailer crawl/tour so we can check out all the trailers we haven't seen yet. Probably do that on Sat. Afternoon around 4 and we'll start at my trailer so bring yourself your choice of beverage or I'm sure I'll have an ice cold beer in the cooler you can sample. Think that will be fun and a good chance to snoop around a little bit (not to mention an excuse to have a cold beer).
Nancy Skalzi and my wife Darby will be hosting a Tye Dye fest. at some point during the weekend, I'm sure Mrs Nancy will have the particulars on that very soon.
I'm really hoping for a HUGE showing from the NE Chapter at this one. It's been an extremely long winter and I'm sure that everyone needs a little R & R.
Feel free to post any questions or concerns and I'll do my best to address them quickly. I'm sure that Art, Nancy and Scott will be glad to help in any way they can as well. See you all soon.
PARTY ON DUDE.
Barry Haskill
TearJerkers New England chapter Director
So, so far the activities will be;
Friday Night
A Campfire with announcements for the weekends activities.
Skits by "The Trailer Park Players" And a Possible appearance by "The TearJerkers Philharmonic Kazoo Band"
Saturday;
A Saturday AM impromptu Breakfast/Coffee Social, Location/site to be announced.
Here is Coop's email to me on the topic.
OK-
I'll bring "Grillzilla", the BIG Coffee Urn, pancake batter & coffee.
I'll bring the plaques, necessary labels, supplies, etc. to decoupage them.
That's my contribution man!
Coop
A volunteer Arts & Crafts session will be held at some point to make up the Blank awards.
BTW Coop is a Master at this system...It would be a Great Tutorial for other members for there Chapters gatherings.
As mentioned in Barry's post above. Tie-Dying and a Trailer Crawl.
Nancy & Darby will be posting something on the Tie-Dying activity soon...Look for it.
Trailer Crawl's are great.Barry & Darby H. wrote: I'm going to put together a bit of a trailer crawl/tour so we can check out all the trailers we haven't seen yet. Probably do that on Sat. Pot Luck Dinner
There will be a Pot Luck Dinner Saturday evening at apx. 6PM. Participants are invited to bring there dishes and share with the group.
In addition a LARGE BBQ Grill will be supplied and fired for anyone who wishes to contribute a BBQ'ed dish or eat there own BBQ'ed dish and contribute a side dish.
After Dinner
The Awards:
Here is my Post on how the Awards will go;
AWARDS
This years awards will be a little different.
Coop and I sit and try to make up an award for everybody, be it funny, serious, having to do with there trailer, themselves whatever.
After about the third or fourth we both look at each other with that "Deer in the headlights look" and can't come up with any more.
This gathering we're going to do it differently.
First off everyone bring a Black Sharpie Marker.
We're going to make up blank awards and give one to everybody.
Saturday morning we will put everyone's name into a hat and everyone will pick one.
It will be your job to meet that person (kind of undercover) and name the award for the person you pick.
It can be for best galley, most original trailer, best restoration, best Bull $hitter, coolest tow vehicle, best use of a stick, Most obnoxious pants, biggest tarp, worst park job......what ever.
Write that on your award (with your Sharpie) a short speach and present it to your person at our awards ceremony just after dinner on Saturday.
An important fact to be aware of
There will be some costs incurred in the presentations of a lot of these activities. They are all paid for up front by the directors presenting this event.
Donations would be appreciated to cover some of these expenses.
Not necessarily in money (Though there will be a Coffee Can available for cash donations for awards, Tie Dye activities and some monies put out for other items) but maybe in Firewood, Charcoal.
Saturday Night
A Campfire of Grandiose Proportion Overseen by the Official TearJerkers Pyromaniac/Technician Mr. Bill Hossfield, Assistant Director of the New Jersey Chapter.
With all the Jocularity of the previous nights festivities.
Some additional Info;
Alright you Long haired Hippie Freaks!
I contacted Linda at the campground. They have closed the Campground to everyone but us for that weekend of May 14-15.
We have basically rented the Park.
She also assured us that we can do anything we want with the electricity.
Run chords to non electric sites etc.
I expect it will be very much like Ross Hill.
The Non Electric Sites are Strictly for Over Flow
Her assessment of the electricity is this,
The first ones registered will get Waterfront w/elec.
The second wave will get water sites w/no electricity..BUT Can run Cords for electric.
The third wave will be across the road from the water and the first wave w/elec.
The fourth wave will be across the road from the water as well w/no electricity BUT can run cords.
The sites are very large and can accommodate Several Trailers.
BRING EXTENSION CORDS! IF NOT FOR YOU MAYBE FOR OTHERS.
As Posted earlier; We are not renting individual sites...We are renting Group sites.
So Get Ready For a Really Great time
And what ever you do, Don't Do The Brown Acid!
Happy Trails
Len
