Hey Shaun;

I looked at your album...

What is with all the lanterns and stoves etc.
Do you collect them? Wanna post exactly what you are looking for, and I will keep a copy in my wallet?

Another great hobby I have is yard saling right after stopping at Starbucks for DECAFFEINATED coffee, no matter where I am I enjoy yard/garage sales, and if I run into anything for you, I will grab it at a ridiculous low price of course.... Now..... we will talk about me fees associated with that! LOL! No.....it would be my pleasure to get things for a collector, it is the thrill of the hunt!

Pam, yeah I'm one of the Colemanitis afflicted. The list of stuff I want is longer than the list I can afford lol, but I add to it when I can. Just about any Coleman gas lantern under $5 at a sale is fair game for me. Thanks for the thought, g-sales are great hunting grounds for them.

It's part of my self proclaimed therapy until I can start a proper build of my own, the second part being watching others' builds like yours and Johnny's. 8)

Shaun:

Northwest Nevada is not that far from Reno. I think you should take a road trip and hang with Johnny one weekend.

A. I am sure he would like to "catch up" on his trailer progress and two more hands on his project would be great!

B. He is a fanatic about this tear; he definately has found a great hobby; and would love to talk all about it with you, ALL weekend long.

It would be great for both of you. You get to see a hands on project and he would get to "talk shop" with someone his own gender.

Then you can always go to the RV junkyard and poke around there in anticipation of finding something you can't do without.

I would be very happy if you and your wife stayed at my house, I have a guest room, and I would be honored if you stayed here, you could even look at my tear and possibly we all could get together with the McCam's, or we could invite everyone to my house one evening.

Anyhoo, pick a date for the hands on training tour.

Pam, I just tend to be vague in my location descriptions online. We're only a little over 20 miles north of town in the Red Rock area. Thank you kindly for the offer all the same. We will all need to get together sometime in the near future when the weather finally settles down. I'm a bit of a wreck physically at the moment with lousy agility but that will pass. Quite the group growing around our area. I keep talking to a friend about TDs and he's about to give in too I think lol.

Just a quick posting...

Drew the lines on the walls for the cabin overhead storage, the storage above your feet, the kitchen, AND "surprize" an 18" storage compartment from floor to ceiling, with doors on both sides for pass through access.

Not only did the walls get drawn on for the placement of the verticals and horizontal bulkheads. At every single intersection of lines, a very very small drill hole was made, ensuring placement was precise when lining up the bulkheads.

My goal is to somehow create a seamless frame on the storage compartment, just to keep the look of a more traditional tear drop.

It seems I'm always in the design phase even up to the moment of sawing the wood.

I chose to fill the recessed floor anchors with bondo~bought at HD. Bondo drys in 20 minutes, and so I have been told, it is better than wood putty.

One wall was done tonight, glued, screwed and made sure it did not lean by using these squares.

Tomarrow the next wall and a spar.... woohoo....

Wow Pam, you're really going great guns on your TD! It looks like you have added lots of cool design elements too. We'll have to get together soon as things are slowing down over the next few weeks.

Thank you so much for posting your progress.

Cheers, Dave

Let me back up just a tad.

Silver Nugget came over on Sunday, and co-piloted for awhile, brain stormed with me on ideas and what things I would need to take with me when I would be using the tear.

We drew out lines and moved them and re drew them, we cut out the "storage door" (behind the kitchen) custom sized so I put stack my Rubbermaid totes and a broom and my green carpet and an EZ up yadda yadda yadda. Where ever there is a line that intersects with another line, we drilled tiny little holes so that on both walls the alignment would be precise.... It was Silver Nuggets idea, Great idea!

So on Monday is when I put up the first wall, and realized HOW many errors I made the first time I put up a wall. This wall is solid as a rock, and the first go around a few weeks ago, when I put up the wall, I just knew something was not right.

So tonight is wall #2 and spars are next.

This tear has tons of room and I am considering slide out ice chest out the "side" of the trailer, or swinging lower cabinets.

I went over to Mill End fabric and checked out their foam for my mattress and the gentlemen assisted me in putting the foam on the table and then I layed down on each one and compared comfort between them.
