Nice blog, I'm on a motorized bkie forum and it amazes me how many people can't work on their bikes! The motor and installation are one thing but some are lacking the basics. I'll point them to your blog if they can't figure something out and I don't feel like responding.

I was wrenching on my bikes since I was in the 4th grade. My dad was usually working so I had to figure it out myself. The only thing I didn't do was take apart the bottom bracket but that was because I didn't have a wrench big enough.

I just put this bike together, had to clear out the cobwebs in order to work on it, stopped workin on bikes and onto cars in 10th grade. I put this springer on but I'm thinking about taing it off. It feels like it can easily get a death wobble.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. asianflava, I would seriously consider a rigid fork with that motor on the bike. The springer fork is not really made for speeds over 15 mph.

Great book, THANKS! I used to rebuild/repair bikes when I was a kid, but I havent touched one since I got my 1st car. But recently I started getting back into riding so this will be a blessing! Lord knows I have forgotten much more than I will ever remember!

Thanks Scott. Sheldon was the inspiration for the blog and eventually the book. I never took the time to email him about it, but now he knows for sure. Some people call me the "Canadian Sheldon Brown". I'm always flattered but I know for a fact that I don't come even close to the Master.

I think I saw this here and it sums up what my goal in life is: "Aspire to inspire before you expire".
