I'll go to the Dexter link and try some more.

I keep coming to a note that states out of stock or superceded. I fired off an email for info.

Gonna call the TSC in my area to check stock.

That was the label that was on the axle in 2005 when I purchase the trailer.
May be different now.
Not really significant. Just an observation.

Trailer title states 250 lbs.

Got an email from Dexter. Here's what they said.

The number you gave 2K6047 is not a Dexter part number. It is the
manufacturer's part number for the axle. The axle without springs is rated
at 2000 lbs. We sell this to the trailer manufacture without springs so I'm
not sure what capacity springs they use on it. If the spring capacity is
less than 2000 lbs for the pair than the axle would be rated at what the
capacity of the two springs are.

There are three TS stores within 1.5 hrs from me. Between the three, there are 5 of the 4 x 8 no floor trailers. $349. I'm going on a road trip this Saturday to pick one up. The SKU is 1000215

I just dead lifted this thing a coupla three four times onto our household digital bathroom scale out in the garage on the concrete floor. I shoved the tongue up into the rafters and had the rear most angle setting on the scale. It was pretty much straight up and down. It wasn't touching the rafters. I only held onto it enough to keep 'er steady. I also redid this with a small piece of wooden 2x on the scale in case the angle was bending over the scale to give a false reading. This is as scientific as I can get for now. It read 190.5 lbs. 88.4 kg on that scale. And 27.5 tongue weight.

Can anyone back this up?

It looks like Tractor Supply has started listing the trailer on their website:

http://www.tractorsupply.com/trailers-towing/trailers/carry-on-4-ft-x-8-ft-trailer-1500-lbs-gvwr-1000215

As of August, 2009 it's listed as being $349. I'm leaning towards buying one instead of the harbor freight. I like that it's already assembled and ready to title - should make life easier.

Anybody know if it has the flange for mounting brakes?

Don't know about trailer brakes on this model - but if you're loading it THAT much to need brakes - then you've seriously oveloaded the trailer - I have used three of them and Never needed braking assistance. No they do not have flanges for braking

1500# capacity and the trailer is 190# so there is about 1300# to play with.
I'll try to keep my GTW at ~1000

As previously stated, the five cross members are below the perimeter framing. I'm gonna get some 1/8" aluminum flat stock to make up the difference. I desire a flat floor to start with. 1/8" may not seem like much. It's more of an annoyance to me. But for $350. it's a good deal, IMO.

Prohandyman,
Nice looking 2x4 frame and trailer!
Forgive my newbie question, but how and where is it attached to the trailer?

How big are the wheels? Are they stock?

Northern tool.com Item#125692-1006
5x8 heavy duty trailer with 5.30-12 tires
Overall length 136 in.
Overall width 76 in.
Trailer weight empty 265lb's
Payload weight 1750lb's
It's price when I purchased it Sept 9th 2010 499.99(no shipping)
2in coupler
Lights and all that is required for the road.

It will be great for my build my wife and I we prefer our own bed.
We are highway folks as of now but we all are tempted one time or the other to take the road less traveled.
It was quick build. I'm trying to keep my cabin weight down as I'm
sure you all have.Final weight will be determined at the truck scales near my home in StLouis.
Well I hope this info will help somebody trying to pick, which one!

The Tractor Supply Co trailer is now $369. Just looked at one a few hours ago. My little town had 2 ready to go.

This trailer is also sold at Fleet Farm under their Big Max name but is made by the same manufacturer. Fleet Farm is currently selling them for $339.

I looked at one yesterday and it was $369.00, if you get on TSP's email list they frequently have coupons. I just recieved a coupon for 100.00 off a ramp trailer. Sometimes the coupon is for any store purchase.

My observation was that the tires are awfully small. Likely they are sufficient if you are just visiting established campgrounds but if you are going to venture into state parks and national parks I would think an upgrade would be in order. I didn't measure the ground clearance but it was like 10". However I did notice the the axle is mounted over the springs. You could move the axle under the springs and give yourself more clearance for larger tires. Possibly eliminating having to move the fenders up. It would all have to be measured out and confirmed but just a thought.

Re: some specs on the 4x8 Tractor Supply Trailer

I literally just called Carry-On Trailers (4pm EST) and found out that they are no longer carrying that model of trailer. It seems that due to a lot of those trailers getting warped, they are no longer selling any trailer that does not have the side rails as the rails are 60% of the strength of the trailer. I was looking to see if they could custom build me one like that but on a 5'x10' frame.

That's when they pointed out the 4'x8' and said that they were dropping that as well.

So if anyone one wants one, better get them now.
