Trailer Covers for Winter Storage

Postby mtnmomma » Sat Dec 04, 2010 2:51 pm

Hi, I am a new teardrop owner and I am looking for a good cover for my 1989 Little Jimmy Flintstone Teardrop trailer. This is the closest name I was given for the trailer as it is egg shaped and very round body of plastic molded design.

Hi mtnmomma,
Welcome to the forum! Do you have a :pictures: of your trailer? Love the name. I immediately pictured Fred Flintstone "driving" his car with his feet and the noise it made.

I'm in the process of building my teardrop. Since winter has put most of the build activity on hold, I was thinking I could make a cover for mine. Along with a quilt. And pillowcases. And curtains.

I'd be interested in hearing responses on trailer covers as well. I know there's a manufacturer in California ...Pa Que ... or something like that. Someone will be along to give you the proper link. I know he's posted on the forum before. I've also read that you could use a car cover. I suppose it depends on what kind of climate the trailer lives in as to what is the most important weather element you're looking to protect your teardrop from...snow, sun, rain, wind, salt air.

Anyway, hope you have lots of fun with your new teardrop. :)

Take care,
Lil M.

I am thinking seriously of getting an EZ up cover form a broken EZ up.... surely someone has had one hit the ground this year.

I used a tarp one year and it was good in winter but summer it blistered the top of mine.

Also you can order UV protected material and make one...

Oooh! Good idea! Now I don't feel so bad about cheaping out and spending $50 on a knockoff one from Menard's. I can repurpose it!

Would Sunbrella fabric work? I was thinking some kind of coated plastic/vinyl for the top (for snow loads) and sunbrella for the sides. Or maybe the Sunbrella fabric is unnecessary/overkill for the sides. Or is it good for the whole cover?

 Sunbrella was what I was thinking. I think they can do water proof too. Great stuff...

Best thing about Sunbrella is it comes in wide sizes!

Here's another discussion just going on over in General Discussion. It's got a bit of a naughty title ;), ;), nudge, nudge, know what I mean?:
