i am more of a rum drinker myself.BUT, i always bring a few bottles of michigan wine with me. i'm very proud of the things we make here and its always fun to treat someone to a taste of our home state.

one of our favorites is traverse wineries cherry wine. a sweet desert wine that is really nice to sip around a campfire.

there are dozens of vineyards here in michigan, so lots to choose from.

Government-owned liquor stores? Sounds Orwellian, like the gin in 1984 or something...

We have a few small wineryies here in Kansas as well.
I try to buy from them as much as much as I can.

But it does help that they make a really good wine!!

I was thinking about the wine thing? You know glass bottles traveling down the road.
If not packed right they will break before the enjoyment can happen.
And no one wants that.... Right!

So I'm thinking boxed wine has come a long ways since the old days of what where they thinking!!!!

So boxed wine or glass? :)

Wine! I love wine. I like the semi sweets, red and whites and also cabs and merlots. We always include at least one bottle on a getaway and more if we are gone longer. Even got traveling wine glasses from Bass Pro. We are getting closer to deciding on a teardrop and now I think we will have to celebrate with a "Happy Camper" bottle. Hopefully we will attend an outing soon and share some.

Looks like the Happy Camper may get to come out sooner than later. Looked at trailers yesterday that were being built. We like 'em. Looks like we are gonna finalize plans soon and the build will be on it's way. :applause: :applause:

Keep your eyes open. I have seen some nice plastic stemware. My sister gave me a large wicker picnic basket as a gift once. It came with two really nice wine glasses, that I always have on hand. Look in the stores. Now that it is warming up the stores are carrying a good variety of plastic drinking cups. Cheers! :)

They have some wine glasses at Bass Pro that screw on at the base and when you are done you unscrew them and snap the stem piece into the glass part. Very handy for travel and plastic too.

On our trip to Natural Falls State Park gathering, we took 6 bottles of wine. Sandi put them in our vintage cooler with some ice packs and wrapped tea towels around them. They arrived in great condition!

I think the problem with box wine will be a lack of variety.

I had some of the seperating plastic wine glasses too. Used them for two years. BUT at our last gathering at the Dam, I noticed one was leaking. The plastic apparently doesn't hold up too well where they screw together, that is where the leak was. :( I think I am going to look at some of the screw together metal kind.

Debbie,
We just got back from 4 days a MacKerricher State Park above Fort Bragg. One of our fellow campers had some really nice stainless steel wine glasses with a heavy plastic base that screws together that the got from REI. I liked them better then our little stainless steel wine glasses that we have at gatherings. Take a look online at REI.
