I have loved waffles my whole life.

I just wondered what you do when you make them.

If I'm cooking...I do either Krusteaz or Bisquik mix, cuz usually it's for a bunch of people and want to minimize the work on it. In the great "waffle cook off" of 2008 at the IRG...the winner went with a scratch batter....If you get a chance to have one of Delores' waffles....you'll know why she won. Whipped egg whites and the whole works. She also cooks a mean abelskiver. Doug

for us, it's sourdough waffles from scratch. Those and the pancakes are about the only thing I know how to make, but they're a hit with whoever is around for breakfast.

+1
I think I'm a pretty good cook but waffles have always eluded me. Not just how to make them taste right but how to keep them from sticking to the waffle iron. My waffles just plain suck! :(

Be glad to, I'll get the recipe written up tomorrow. But the big thing is having the sourdough 'starter' that is the base for it all. If you know someone that has some, you only need a cup of it to get rolling, the rest is easy. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can lol.

I use Dean & Joanie's basic smoky cheese corn waffles as a base, with a little twist. I use the Jiffy cornbread mix as a base, add a handful of grated cheese, diced ham, and use buttermilk milk. It is the perfect size for just the two of us, and easy to double and triple. the only waffles or pancakes that don't cause me to reactive hypoglycemic reaction because of the cheese and ham and corn. Everyone loves them! thanks dean and Joanie!
