exterior electrical outlets

exterior electrical outlets

I was curious how many trailers have an exterior 120 volt outlet ?

If you do what all is it used for ?

My teardrop has a couple outlets in the galley area but extention cords for party lights and such get in the way.

I installed a true thru the wall exterior weatherproof duplex plug-in on the barn build and it was used day after day during the build and on almost every outing for party lites and even fans on extremely hot summer outings.

I located it on the passenger side. In the pic above it is the grey box between the corner trim and the faux window.

I don't have one. But that is only because I did not think of it. But I like the idea. I do have one in the galley. If I had one on the exterior I would use it for some rope lights under my shelter.

This is what I have - the 30 amp cord exits through the floor with a concealed hatch. I use it to power the microwave and fridge

We have two, one in back which Nancy uses for the electric fry pan and one up front for the AC unit. Main advantage is that it all is protected by the Progressive Dynamics circuits, surge protector and GFI. One of the things I plan on playing with is using a UPS as an inverter.
We also use the outlet in the back to power the Waeco refrigerator.

Bobhenry I planned on one for mine to do what your is: run outdoor rope lights and either our radio or a fan for hot summer days. I will be at that point in a couple of weeks.

I put one on each side of my teardrop. When we camp where there is power, they get used for canopy lights, a box fan in the summer (keeps mosquitos away!), our "redneck water heater" (thanks for the idea, bobhenry!), and even a small fridge for a week-long festival we go to once a year.

I purchased this plug in thermostat. http://www.amazon.com/WIN100-Heating-Co ... pd_cp_hi_0

Then I installed an outside electical outlet and connected it to a non powered inside outlet. I plugged in the thermostat to a powered outlet and using a jumper ran a cable from the thermostat's out to the inside non powered outlet. Now I can put my pet cool outside and have it controlled by the inside thermostat. Works great. I just put the pet cool on max heat or cool and get the inside temp I want.

I have a typical covered outside outlet... use it for the pet cool and whatever else is needed. It is in the front of the t/d.

Also have one inside and one in the galley.

I went a little overboard. I have 3 circuits in my trailer. (I was given the breaker box, so I just used all 3 breakers in it). I have power front and rear of cabin. above and below the counter in the galley and an a weatherproof outlet outside.
The outside outlet was one of the first things I added after the first couple of camping trips. It is a lot neater than running an extra cord to the power pole to run a radio, light, or rope lights.

On my new cargo travel trailer I had one installed for both driver and passenger side.

I put one on the side of my tongue box, mainly to run an ext. cord to my son's tent or a light.
