Carlson furnace question??

Postby Early 1 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:31 am

I just picked up a 1958 trailer that has a Carlson furnace in it. It is a model 1080 gravity furnace.
It was pretty coroded. I removed it and cleaned it out piece by piece. The problem is I still can get it to fire up.

Can anybody help??????? :(

The pilot won't light. I've been searching on line but can't find any troubleshooting info as to what is wrong.
thanks

Do you mean that the pilot will not light at all (meaning a problem with valving) or that the pilot will light - but go out (meaning a bad thermocouple)?

...googled it and came up with this from '61 http://www.airforums.com/forums/f427/19 ... 25397.html
...any numbers or other distinguishing marks onit...your given info is kinda scarce...what kinda regulator are you using...it takes a 3.5oz low pressure regulator.....................

Yeah the pilot wont light at all. Those are the same links as I found as well.
I think replacement parts may be non-existent. I may be out of luck on this heater.
Thanks guys! [/img]

PICTURES...take pics of all the relevant areas and post 'em here...it might be junk BUT never give up until the brilliant braintrust around here has seen the pics and declared themselves to be stumped.........

There's a link at the top of each page titled Help with photos that will walk you though the process of loading them into your album and posting them in messages.

Is there anything inside the pilot tube? I have found ( in my RV ) the smallest bit of dirt will stop the flow of gas
