A friendly reminder ... concerning politics and religion

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby satch » Mon Sep 08, 2008 9:20 pm

There are other forums for these topics. Peoples beliefs are almost instinct to some, so to get into deep rooted subjects, usually, end bad. Plus, I would hate to see the the friendships and the interactions of the members get damaged. WE are here to learn and have fun, lets not spoil it. jmo 8)

Well, I know I'm about a year or two late posting on this one, but if you would allow me to make a point...thanks...

If only I had joined back then... I would have known better how to handle the situation which I seem to be in at this point in life. The wife and I, after 30 years of marriage, have come to disagree more than ever. We decided to seek counseling...oh yes, I have been paying every week for six months now. If only I had known the answer was so simple... :o

"Yes, I was wrong" I would have saved enough money to pay for a nice teardrop, and I would have already had that sucker built by now, and I could just go camping... :D

I found out very quickly how a silly topic about nothing of true importance may lead to the subject of politics and religion...yet, I'm still not certain how that happened. I think starting a topic can be as tricky as building a camper can be. You can never be certain what will hapen until it is built.

I joined, because I'm excited about the camper my hubby built...no more sleeping on the floor of a tent. Yay! I'm glad to get to know all of you. I'm having a lot of fun. It's nice to meet other people who appreciate camping. I like your ideas, tips, and funny comments. I just want to relax and have a good time when I'm off work. This is a nice place to do that when I can't go camping :)

Happy tears to you all!
Jan

Considering the range of political from libertarian to liberal and religion there is little rancor. I found the same at gatherings, for the most part, and most people a willing to listen to a well reasoned argument.

Hey, rbeemer. I think you're onto something... If we can have the Church of Elvis(yes, people, it's real), we should be able to call teardrop ing a religion without too much trouble!

I think teardropping has some way to go before supplanting the greatest non-religious religion, being a Jedi (yes, as in Star Wars). This has been used by people to answer a census question on religion in several English-speaking countries.

New Zealand has the highest proportion of Jedis, 1.5% in their 2001 census. Sadly no country has yet recognised Jedi as an official religion.

  I like that Len...sounds sensible to me...here is a church I could belong to... Church of the Blind Chihuahua ...their guiding principle is "Science is about Facts, Religion is about Meaning, and Humor is about Us" and their creed is"We can't be right about everything we believe.
Thank God, we don't have to be!" ..........................

Arguing politics and religion is like teaching a pig to sing. It is a waste of your time and irritates the heck out of the pig. :x :?
