Hi Sharon: Looking GOOD... I like the curtains. I am interested where you got the metal pieces for your door limit straps??? I went to a place called "Savers" that is a thrift store (like Good Will) and I got an old webbed men's belt to make the straps for my doors. The way you did yours, professionally done & very nice looking.

Johnny, I looked at my ACE receipt and they listed it as a "STRAP LOOP". They come in various sizes, 1" being the smallest. You will probably find them over by the small U-bolts, usually near the store's center aisle, down near floor level, which means that they are so unnoticeable that if they were alive and had teeth, they could bite you before you saw them, unless you knew where to look. :laughing1:

If you still have trouble finding them, the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number of the 1-1/4" Strap Loop is 616354. They are not on the Internet site. Since these are kept together, someone in the store should be able to look that up and direct you to them, if they have them at your store.

Ohhh! So, that's what they call them! Thanks, Bruce.

But, I think what ACE calls them makes more sense. Whoever named them footman loops must've been "loopy". "Man," my "foot" won't fit! :rofl2:

Its funny, I was looking at a saddle Thursday from the civil war and guess what it had on it? Footman loops! They've been around for a long time.

Thank you for your kind words, Miriam. :)

...I hope my trailer doesn't end upside down like yours did!!!!
I was saddened to see that poor baby's roof chopped off, too.
I do hope you are planning another when life finally gets back to normal, there in Joplin.

Bruce, I've learned an amazing amount of information just from reading postings on this forum and from the necessity of 'how to' knowledge to enable the building of MyAway. Now that I know the correct name, Footman loops, I find that they are used on boats, harnesses, little trailers (TeeHee!) and even Jeeps and have been used for years. Thank you for your knowledge.

Still, to ask for them at ACE hardware, you would probably need to know what they call them there: Strap loops.

I still want to see you out camping

The one big concern I would have is a strong wind exceeding the strength of the anchor points for the strap, ripping out some beautiful wood. But then we live in an area where we average 15mph winds. You might want to consider strapping material that will break before that happens.
The regional centric thinking can bite you. At CAG we died because there was not a hint of a breeze and that does not happen here. I could easily brought a big fan I have in the garage.
