Coleman Keepers Campfire come on in!

What we need is a cool leather vest like bikers wear. You know like Sons Of Anarchy . Something that says, in a subtle way, give up the Coleman. Then we could walk in to the flea market and get some respect. " Look over there, it one of those Coleman Keepers". I can see it now. 8)

I'd rather go incognito - that way vendors have no clue as to who i am or what I'm up to - if they spot ya', the price can go up dramatically! It's only when I uncover the haul of lanterns after the purchase - do they begin to suspect - but by then the transaction has been completed! 8)

When looking for certain items, I usually dress differently to throw the seller off guard....no vintage jewelry or anything when going to the antique fair, etc. Just off the rack stuff. Not that you guys will be wearing vintage jewelry, but when searching for Coleman, it might be better to wear khakis and a golf shirt than a plaid shirt and North Face jacket. If they think it's your hobby, then the price skyrockets...you must really want it for your collection, or you wouldn't be asking about it!

Good luck! I wish I knew a bit more about Coleman so I could pick up stuff at the thrifts..I don't know what is something good, or if it's missing a part can it be replaced easily. Just don't know.

Ditto on the incognito stuff. I'd rather play dumb to try to beat someone up on a price. If they know what they have and actually have some background on it, then you pull out the knowledge and try to beat them up. Just my MO. An easy test of a vendor...ask them how old it is...that's basic gas pressure appliance knowledge. Let them do the talking and see if they hang themselves. Doug

I know I know I fly low profile too. I guess we will just have to don the Members Only jackets.

Like with waffle doggers....maybe a patch could be cooked up? Same thing as a biker gang....gotta do certain stuff to be a fully patched member, or in this case....gotta own certain stuff. Of course, there is the obligatory greasy/ ratty sleeveless denim jacket to stick the patch on...... Doug

Ahhh...I see now! You just want to wear colors! Of the Coleman variety!!! Has nothing do do with getting a deal on vintage...it's just to show that you know your Coleman!!

Maybe a patch is in order!!! Something with a teardrop and a lantern maybe?
Add it to a down vest as the camper's version of the leather motorcycle vests?

Or put it on a jacket...scooter folks usually put patches from rallies they have gone to..I used to put patches on my backpack from campgrounds/National Parks I camped in as a kid. Maybe in addition to Waffle Dogs, etc. there should be a Coleman patch...or is there one????

I am also a cast iron devote, I have made an effort to get a waffle dog iron to no avail.

It would be cool if we could be patched in on Lanterns and Stoves. I would be willing to pay for the first batch of patches or what ever the group decides is right. Just let me know. 8)

I've had this feeling for about a month now...that whenever I open my mouth (or post on a forum/facebook, etc..) a whole lot trouble starts up. Now look what's going on!! A Coleman club within the T&TTT!

OK..sounds good. You need a logo. Start throwing ideas out and maybe I can scurry up someone who can throw it together.

What shape patch? Rectangular? Round with a lit lantern in the middle? What is the 'club' going to be called? Gotta have a catchy name..something outside the box so it doesn't sound like 'Coleman Collector Club of America' or something boring like that. and is it a teardrop only thing?

Guess I'd better get my stove back, find my old lantern, and next time pick up one of the oldies I see at thrifts..and learn how to rehab it!! Dang! I saw 2 awesome ones with cases awhile back!! Guess I'll go thrifting tomorrow!

Pfttttt....Hah!!!! Not a "gang" I want to be involved in.....lanterns may give you light, and I got plenty of them, but...a stove will feed you and any self respecting Coleman person ought to have several. ..Doug
