Man...nobody posting since July...guess I'll give the can a kick

Anyone been to Craigleith (on Georgian Bay) in the spring?
Got a favorite spot (at the campground Jawbone!)?

tear jerkers ontario group are planning a gathering in the August. We will be looking for suggestions in a week or so once we finalize a few things. Annette and I are planning a end of may trip to Kentucky. so far most of our camping will take us into Michigan. We will probably visit sandbanks in the spring and wheatley p.p. in the fall

How about Awenda Provincial Park...end of May / first of June?
Beautiful Georgian Bay before the blackflies arrive! Ice should be out of the water by then. ;)

We camped here and toured Mammoth Cave south of here.

They have a nice historical tour highlighting the War of 1812.

When did you camp at Nolin Lake State Park? Last I heard it was closed due to flooding. This is one our favorite campgrounds and hope it has reopened.

It was the last week of April 2010 when we were chased out by that very rain and tornadoes that tore up the southeast. It was the wetness that inspired the re-build. See album. We spent one night (April 24) and scrammed.
Right now the status is closed through March 31, 2012.
Happy trails,
Hoyt

Hey Sandy!! - I've never camped at Craigleith.
The only "non-blues" camping we did this summer was at 6 Mile lake, just to get the Grandkids camperized. Worked out well. They loved it.
I'm still pumped about trying out the Bruce Peninsula, Cypress lake? - I want to hike the last part of the Bruce Trail (about 20 k, not sure if I still can) plus it is a pretty park.
Boy - our Ontario Chapter sure is laid back!!!

the ontario chapter of terajerkers has had some significant changes in the last month. We have changed names to include Quebec and directors. We are very close to announcing our 1st chapter gathering and have 3 planned for next year. Checkout the tearjerker page as it has more info. We will post all gatherings here as well.Patrick

As for Kentucky, Burnside State Park is a nice place.

Hi Chris.
Thanks for the post...that's the reason for this forum I guess, to get info on places we haven't been (and may now choose not to visit). Awenda was great, surely Craigleith has some redeeming qualities...
