How often to you camp in your trailer

Postby Ron Dickey » Thu Jan 12, 2012 10:50 pm

We usually only go out 2 to 4 times a year. One is for my birthday.

I think we should go more so we can better know what to bring.

On long trips we use a camping list

But there are not that many gatherings close to us.

How often do you camp with your trailer

I realize that those who live in real deep winter are kept to time when the roads are open or when there is no frost on it's windows inside the trailer.

I live where there is rear snow and cold never drops below 20 degrees. :snowstorm: I have lived in WI. and NM so I know what -0 is like.

But when it is warm and the road are open :fan: do you go a lot?

Sorry I left a lot out. Like for people like me who do not go that often.

And I am sure if gas were less you would go more often too.

But I just wondered how many folks would answer with large numbers.

One of the advantages of being married to a teacher are June July and August. One of the disadvantages of being married to a teacher are June July and August. Unusually her work day starts with her at school by 7:00AM till about 4:30PM and she comes home and will correct papers for a couple of hours a night. Therefore camping happens during June July and August.
Now this is compounded by living in NW Ohio which normally this time of year is not real conducive to camping and spending most of your time out doors.
Last summer was a bit of a cluster. We picked up Compass Rose only after threatening legal action could not license it because we did not have a Certificate Of Origin and with a whole host of uncompleted or completed incorrectly items I had to fix. There are still problems remaining to be fixed i.e. Galley hatch installed incorrectly and leaking, and a very vulnerable gas line.
This year will be different!

I'm usually in for around 30 days a year.

Well over that if I count sleeping in it for work. And a lot of times they run together. I'll have 2 days work then while on the same trip, on the return go to a campground for 2-4 days...Hey, as long as I'm there!!

Happy Trails

We are with Len - around 30. But sometimes more, especially if there is a long trip involved.

Even with living in Wisconsin & my being a teacher, we are generally able to camp from April into November. Lots of places to go - not just gatherings - a weekend away is as good as an extended trip.

Most of the time, there isn't a lot to get ready...make sure we have water & add some perishables to the cooler. Otherwise, the teardrop is always packed to go.

I'm probably out around 20-25 times a year, and that still isn't enough! My new teardrop will eventually have a wood stove, so that should get me out a little more.

I spent 63 nights in my TD last year, but intend to surpass that by far this year. :)

It all comes down to the $$$... bein self employed means I work part time and that seriously restricts my campin ! But when I git the urge to camp and don't have the $$$.. I jus driveway camp ! This year I am fortunate to have a couple a $$$ and have been campin every month since December and have a camp out planned till July already !

The Tearsdrops Only camp out at Lake Perris next week is gonna be a BLAST !

I went camping six times last year for a total of 18 nights in the trailer. I try to go camping every month, weather permitting.

I plan to use the teardrop more this year, partly because it's now insulated, and suitable for a longer camping season, and because I like getting out with it.

I parked the TTT at Mom & Dad's place and helped them w/ house construction almost every weekend spring/summer/fall last year. I spent a little over 60 nights in it. In a typical year, it's closer to 20.
