Pseudo Waffle-dogger

Postby Phooey » Sat Jun 23, 2012 8:41 pm

We were in Placerville today and they have this wonderful old hardware store downtown. We love to roam the aisles and we found a Rome Pie Iron hotdog and brat cooker. Rob thought that he had found a waffle-dogger but it's not "waffley" but for those folks who are desperately seeking a waffle-dogger and have not found one in the wild this might "work" until the real thing comes along.

Really cool idea. Also available at Campmor and Lehman's for those of us who haven't made it back to Placerville since 1982 or so.

I see Gander Mountain and Bass Pro shops carry them to if you have one of those in your neighborhood.

I looked at them a couple of times. Without the waffles, I just can't convince myself to do it. Seems just a little more desperate than dropping $70 on a real one.

I, like Heaven, can wait

We have one and have cooked bratwurst in it many times. It's a tight fit for a standard brat, and quite loose for a regular hot dog. We did try breakfast sausage in pancake batter one morning, but the sausages were freezer-burned and we ended up not enjoying the results. Our fire restrictions have just been lifted, so we will have to try again one of these mornings.
