OK, Here are a couple pictures of our first camping trip in the "Silver Nugget" last weekend.

Image

We all had a great dinner together Saturday night. Our TD is in the far back. Terry and I are in the back. In the front, (L to R) friends Jeffrey, Wendy & Leroy. They brought their TD along that was finished in June.

It has been a while since I posted any more progress. I need to build the doors for all of the cabinets still. I need to finish off the hatch sides with trim. I will work on it from time to time this winter as I can and weather permitting. Terry and I have been enjoying the "Silver Nugget" the way it is for now. We have had it out camping at least a half a dozen times now. We went to a local KOA "kampground" last week end. It got down to freezing and we had to open the vent over night because it was too warm inside the TD. I was talking to a guy that had a 30' Airstream trailer and he couldn't believe that I built mine. He said it looked like it was a factory built unit. I assured him that it took a lot of time to build but it saved me a bunch of bucks doing it my self.
I will keep you up to date as I get more done on it. Keep tuned!!! :D

Cliff: Thank you for the nice words. I am very glad I found my wife. SHE is Great for me.

Mel: The memories are good and they keep getting better. Maybe next year we can go camping together when you get yours done. We can down a few brews too.

Tom: Pictures tell it all. I'm glad you got to camp in your TD.

Dave: It has been a lot of work, building this thing out side. Are you going camping next year??? We need to get out to Stampede next camping season.

Kirk: These things are a blast. You will have people asking a ton of questions about your TD.

Will: Thanks, I like how it turned out myself. It will be even better next year though when it is finished.

"Silver Nugget" 8-29-12, Cabinet Doors

Postby down under tech » Sun Jul 29, 2012 10:33 pm

I have been working on the cabinet doors over the last couple of weeks when I could. I have five of the nine doors completed now. The two doors for the galley have an aluminum insert to match the power center. The rest of them have or will have red oak insert panels in them. I need to get theses done before we take the TD to the Reno Cabela's Teardrop show on August 18th.
