You're making great progress. You've got a great imagination and an eye for adaptable parts.

Now you've got me to thinking about using part of the long pointy hood from one of those ca 1950 GM sedans for a galley hatch to achieve a boat tail effect.

Thanks MC
Were you plannig for the piont to tail off to the bottom?
If so, a better hood would be one off of a 1947 Hudson PU.
Already has the bump, but flairs out for your width.
53-56 Ford truck hoods do the same. Are a liitle more bulbus and round.
Good luck and don't be afraid to think outside of the box.

Thanks for the encouragement and tips. What is the tow truck in your avatar?

For the boat tail I was thinking of keeping the rear facing hood close to level sloping downward about 15 degrees and terminating about counter high in the galley. I would have separate doors for the below counter storage. The Hudson's flair you mentioned would simplify that. Is this a 47? - how close to stock is the hood?

Image

Along those lines and considering the more rounded shape of the Ford PU hood I have a 2012 KIA Sportage

Image

and am looking to try to mimic the roofline as viewed from the side. The bulbous hood is similar to my rear window and the width close also.

Hi MC
My Tow vehicle is a 1946 M Series Studebaker PU
Yes that is the stock hood on that Hudson PU (very stylish)
The Ford PU you posted the picture of would definitely be an easy mimic of your KIA.
Take another look at the picture........and try and imagine usin most of the truck.
First remove the grill.
Then mount the outer Kia flipped upside down and side for side insid the front fender in place of the headlights.
Now Chop the top of the 53-55 Cab 4" to 6"
Use the doors.
Cut the cabbehind the door posts and extend it to give you you desired sleeping length.
Raise the rear of the hood to meet the roof similar to that of the Kia's hatch,
Fill in the hood sides.
Shorten the box a huge amount and narrow it slightly to make your storage trunk on the front.
Remember keep the front fenders.
If you are really ambitious.... you could graft the fronts of the rear fenders to the back of the front fenders (flipping them side for side of course)
Also remember when chopping the top that 53-56 For PU's must be chopped 1"ore at the front (windshield end) to look right.
Again, as you are trying to mimic the KIA you would chop the widshield end even more.
Just my thoughts at a glance.
Sounds like it could be a cool project.
You would be guaranteed to have the "only" one.

Well it is after 11:00 pm here.
And I have pretty much had the night off.
Almost too late to go back out to the shop except to turn the lights & compressor off.
Only two weeks to go.....and I am getting worried as there is no plan "B".
Still welding, bodywork not complete, no primer, no paint, not wired, no interior, etc.

Well unfortunately we did not get Miss Piggy finished for the start of our Summer Vacation.
I am sure we miss some great opportunities??
But we are back at it, and it is so close we can taste it.
Still working at it.
There is still some of the season left!

Wow wow wow wow wow. Very nice. You do super work and you certainly have an eye for how different parts come together.

Wish I lived closer. I have an idea for chopping up an old vw bug and reconfiguring it, but do not have the welding talent and fitting skills that you have.
