Way cool homemade travel spice kit takes up very little space. Made from a pill organizer. 1http://http://www.handyhausfrau.com/2010/03/portable-spice-kit-for-camping-or.html?m=1

It's a pill dispenser with DIY labels for holding spices.

I'm fond of the tic-tac containers, myself. I'd just fasten a few of them together with some cute washi tape. Hold a little more, and you can get a good shake going.

I love the ideas. I try to pack light, not for our towing vehicle but because ya gotta carry all that stuff outside to pack it. We keep plastic tubs in our entry hall closet that is packed with stuff we always use and take those to the teardrop or tow vehicle when we pack, ezy peezy. Recently a lightbulb went off as I was finishing my last gum pieces in the little tubs. These are the gum containers that are usually at the checkout counter at Walmart for $2.88. Why can't those be used for small amounts of dry stuff, like flour, sugar or anything that you need a little bit of. Different brands open in different ways. On some the whole lid opens up or the little opening that makes them good for pouring just a little out. Just peel the labels off, rinse them out and they are ready to go. What could be better, all that gum and you still get a little container to boot!
Wow, that's a lot of typing for such a small container.

Mine are bigger but I use the McDonald milk chubs for my spices as well as for coffee, sugar, flour, and cornstarch.

Kinda related, but some people use them magnetic tins to hold items like coffee/tea bags etc. They just pull off and stick to anything metal.

Pic below isnt great but shows the kinda idea with sweets as well (under the book shelf)

i use 35 mm film containers for my spices. small and waterproof. if any of you are diabetic <like me> you can use the containers that hold the blood test strips. handy dandy. i carry naproxen and ibuprofen in these bottles as well. each vehicle has a bottle.
