So Glen I got a new bike for Christmas. Its a 29 " wheel Raleigh mountain bike. My first bike with disk breaks. Hard tail. Man what a ride. It motivates me to ride just because its so fun to ride. Good rides all !!

Good luck Bizie . Lance Armstrong beat it you can too.

And remember the motivation for this thread. If you are about to talk yourself out of a ride because of the weather or anything else ------ just remember Glenn would ride!!!

Tonight is a classic example. Many nights Mary and I do long walk or I ride my bike. I came in from the Garage tonight after the sun went down. The temp had dropped about 20 degrees in a half an hour. Mary said no way. I thought about this thread and what Glenn would do. He would ride so I did just that. Thanks again Glenn. Ride on. 8)

Gee... I will have to see if I can live up to this...

I will have to try this on myself.. some night when I don't feel like riding " What would Glenn do?" :D and see if it motivates me to ride. ;)

For a couple of years now.. there has been a small group of us that ride New Years Eve. We go out before midnight.. and come back after. Getting in our last ride of the year right at the very end of the year.. and no one [in our time zone] can get a first ride in before us. It is fun.. and good for "bragging rights". This year no one else was going to do it. :(

We had another party to go to, but they usually don't make it to mid-night.

We got home about 11:15.. The temps were 26.. not toasty.. but actually pretty warm compared to what it could have been. I had been awake since 4:00 am so I was getting pretty tired, but we did each talk ourselves into it. [It's nice having a spouse as passionate about this "stuff"] :D

We got ready and headed out. We ended up taking the Fatbikes.. and riding the dirt/snow shoulder. We were out about and hour and 20 minutes. It was actually quite nice out. I had put more than enough clothes on.. so being cold was not a problem. A light snow started while we were out there.. with nice big fluffy flakes. It was beautiful out. Part way home I did sort of zone out.. getting semi hypnotized by the rhythm of cycling.. the darkness.. and the lightly falling snow.. and 22 hours without sleep.... but I counted it as good "training" for our next 24 hour race. :D

It really was quite a pleasant ride.. and we were glad we had gone out. :)

Thank you.. :)

I am truely blessed. [Laurie feels the same] She is my best friend, and we do most everything together. She is [obviously] as passionate about cycling, and life, as much as I.

She has her own tractor tire for flipping.. a few years ago when we started our sledge hammer workouts. I got her her own sledge hammer for christmas.. she loved it. :)
