Folding bike recommendation.

Postby campmaster-k » Fri Dec 14, 2012 3:49 pm

Before I go I do have one question.

I am sure it has been asked a thousand times and I do apologise for being to lazy to look it up.

I want a folder for camping. Just a good solid bike for tooling around the campground. Any advice is appreciated.

We bought citizens a couple of years ago. On the more inexpensive side. Have been happy with them. Happy enough i sold my regular bike and use it around town. We have the miami. Www.citizenbike.com. I think.

I was lucky enough to find a great deal on a Dahon from the early 80's. I was a bit nervous of how it would hold up, but have been totally impressed! I've even taken it on a few trails with no problems.

Good luck with your search, Craigslist is your friend!

Debbie (or is it Randy) - I checked out the Citizens. The prices seemed very fair to me. Hopefully I will have one to tryout by the dam.

Thanks everyone else I will check on that stuff.

This time it is debbie. Yes, the price was our primary purchase focus for a camping bike. They are no danon or even downtube, but we've been satisfied. Dragonfly checked em out on a trip last year.

I bought a MINI folding bicycle last year. 8 speed derailleur with twist grip shifter. It has aluminum frame and is similar to the Dahons although I haven't found a Dahon just like it.....

http://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/822/MINI-FOLDING-BIKE

at 24 pounds, it's a very responsive bike to ride.

Hope the link works,

I bought a "Giant brand" folder last year. Great bike, and can easily be an only bike.

Agreed. It's like saying one pair of shoes is all you need ... It might work, but you'll get some funny looks/comments going to work in tennis shoes, or going hiking in tennis shoes.

... And for the op, Dahon boardwalk s1.
