I have considered it. It is my backup plan for when it's too cold outside or if I'm out of charcoal. I have even thought about buying one of the regular ones for inside use, but I don't mind working around the legs so I doubt I'll spend the money.

I have started using mine in the oven recently. Thinking about doing a chicken pot pie tomorrow.

I have dutch ovens for camping that have legs and a rim around the lid to hold the coals, and I have dutch ovens for kitchen use with smooth bottoms and domed lids. Oh and an assortment of cast iron frying pans that see almost daily use. Do not fear the iron ... use it every day.

I use the cold winter months to experiment with Dutch oven dishes using my (3) indoor DOs. Here are some of the results:

Bean, Chicken and Sausage Soup

Cream of Wild Rice Soup

Mexican-Style Rice

French Bread

You get the idea....

It's time to do some more of that.

I use my dutch oven a lot on the stovetop to make soups, stews, corn beef and cabbage, etc. My nephews refer to it as my "magic pot" as everything that comes out of it tastes wonderful. I just made ham and cabbage soup in it last week. Fantastic.

I did not no that the one you use outside you can use the same one inside. Is it better to use it in the oven. And if I use it on top of my stove/burner would it be bad for it having too much heat concentrated in one area (the bottom ) having legs on it I'm not even sure if it will fit properly?

My 12" has legs. I have no problem cooking with it on the stove top. It shouldn't hurt the bottom. You use a cast iron skillet on the stove top.

In House DO Cooking is how I got started!

I had a wood stove and I would load the DO up before I went to work...and when I got home, Dinner was done!

AH ! The original slow cooker !

I remember the oil embargo of 78 and heating with wood. A drip top on a trivet with a load of "wood stove stew" in it. It simmered for 2 full days as we had several meals out of it :applause:

and yep I am still doing it ......Image
