2 Person Standy

Postby danlott » Wed Feb 29, 2012 4:52 pm

Here is one that I did a little while back. It has a rear galley kitchen. An air conditioner that slides out the front. It also has a porta potty.

Dan -

Nice design. I've been having thoughts in that direction as well, but am debating whether to have a rear external galley or just have it in the inside where I can take the stove outside for cooking (most of the time).

Thanks for posting.

This is awesome! I just don't know how to take these CAD drawings and turn them into a an actual unit....how does a person start adding correct dimensions to these CAD drawings? I'm such a newbie...ha ha.

You don't need CAD! Just print the side view on graph paper. Once you set the length, you can then assign a dimension to the squares. Lay out squares in full size on a pattern. Then layout where the profile intersects the squares. Search Lofting.

All the dimensions are in the file. You just need to download the free program. You can overlay a grid on the side in the program and get all the measurements you need. You can also use the tape measuretool to get all the measurements.

Dan, I love your little standy. I am having a hard time figuring out the rear arc on that drawing with the measuring tape. Also no luck trying to figure out how to get a grid on the drawing.I am a little cad chalenged.

I like this a lot and I haven't even finished my 1st! Your drawings are bookmarked and when I start #2 I'll be revisiting them!

I really like this design. Has anyone built this have an approximate idea on the weight? I'm looking to tow with a vehicle with a 1500 pound tow capacity.

I am not sure what it would weigh, but I think 1400 pounds would be close. You would want brakes on anything that is close to your tow capacity.

Thanks! I actually found some better data from ford and I'm good to 3,400. I'm modifying the design for a boat trailer I have, and adding a foot in length for a bit more room and a queen size bed.

Hello Dan: Do you have these plans in a PDF? I can't open this on my Apple. I like this standy you have come up with. Thanks,

This is a really nice trailer Dan. I applaude you for the design. :applause: Thank you so much.

Is there any way to convert the measurements over to metric easily?

I may build one of these. :D

Cheers
Paul
