The rod that holds the doors opened is an uncoated gas steel welding rod. The size? The size that looked right. I bent them both at the same time so they are the same length. The door end slips in a hole dilled in top of doors and the other is to an iron bracket i made. Dipped in 2 coats of spar varnish. no rust yet.
