I jacked up the trailer one day and found the brakes were set to tight. I could could hardly spin the tire by hand. I always wondered why after a few miles I would have to reset the controller as the brakes had become grabby. They were heating up as they dragged! Just because your trailer is new does not mean the brakes are set properly from the factory. It is also very hard to get the adjustment tool in the correct place on a drop axle trailer.
