14 ft of Poor Man's Fiberglass Goodness....

Hi All,

A couple of months ago I was keeping a detail journal, but there seemed to be very little interest so I stopped making entries. We did however keep working on the trailer and it is now finished with it's first trip completed. I am placing one final post in the hopes our ideas may help others as other's ideas help us.

Ouch, I feel the jab. I was watching your post. I like what you have created, shows a lot of imagination and hard work. Mine was built completely "off line" and I still have to post the build. I did not want any input for 2 reasons. I thought it might not get finished (bad health) and I like doing things my way (stubborn) and did not want to change my weird plans. Let me give praise to all of the wonderful people on this site that have given input. Had they not shared their thoughts and experiences many like me would not have been inspired to build. Yours will help others I am sure.

Good to see it finished.I was following on here and your web blog but hadn't seen any updates.Great job on the camper.

I love your build - it hits most of the high points for what I want.
Just curious - how big is the bathroom?

Hi,

Bathroom is 42 x 26... Small but as big as the layout would allow. Toilet is custom built to support the weight and size of plus size folks like my self..... :)
Toilet seat is full size...deck of seat is resin coated plywood, very strong and water proof....

Thanks

Thanks. When I finally convince my better half that she needs to let me build, my target will be in the 6.5 - 7 x 14 size range. I need to be able to sleep 4, 3 of whom have difficulties climbing into a bunk, and a toilet is a must (possibly a shower.) I've been looking at a bunch of different layouts & something similar to yours fits the bill pretty well.
Again, I really like your build.

Wow, very nice build! A lot of people just read and dont comment. I have a build thread on another forum that i was starting to feel the same way about, but watching the view count 50-100 people would read it each time i posted something, so i kept going.

8 Year Old Update.....

After 8 Years and over 10,000 miles the camper continues to work as designed. The Most impressive thing to me is how the poor mans fiberglass have held up. After 8 years, not one leak, not one repair and no pealing. This stuff have been way tougher than I ever dreamed.

-We have really changed the queen bed to two twins (momma wants to get up at night to go to RR)
-Added a fold down back porch, Really nice to have

Things I would have done differently
- I would have build to the outside or mid point of the fenders, 6' 10" inside width would have been
much better than my current 6' 2"
- I would have used Better stabilizers, the ones I have didn't hold up as good as I would have liked.

Thanks for everyone's support

That's so cool to hear when something you create works so well and for so long. I would love to see the back porch addition.
