A member shared progress on a compact 5x9 hard-sided square drop camper designed to be tall enough to stand in, reaching 76 inches when raised. The build is being done indoors during an Iowa winter, is planned to disassemble into 11 pieces for moving onto a trailer, uses modified actuators for a 24-inch lift, and includes two 40 x 54 slideouts that are 16 inches deep for seating and sleeping.

Other members were interested in how the slideout seals will be handled and noted that wind-driven...

Rain day today. Put fenders on and placed and tested the lights. Also decided on edge trim on the roof. I like the looks of it better.

Nice! Im still building out my door. Im recycling a vintage camper window in it and have my latch pocket routed out(as well as a bunch of weight reduction material removal) filled with foam and I'm going to skin the whole thing with PMF. Got a beefy piano style hinge. Still trying to figure out how I want to trim out the edges of the door and frame. Got a gutter I've pounded out of a strip of copper.

Your build is very innovative and im excited to see how it turns out!

Thanks. It is a long distance race. I am hoping to test it out in a month. The interior will have to wait as the shop is not heated. I skinned the door today. Still need to do the lower door.

Really nice job on the build! So good to see that craftsmanship is not a lost art! We have the opposite problem down here in SW Fla. Way too hot to do much outside until about October! So many clever parts of your build, suffice it say that we are all watching with much interest! Too much for me to do all of what you did, that's why I started with a cargo trailer! But, very informative nonetheless.

Another week has gone by. Got the top door hung and built the bottom door. Used d style drip edge for the slide outs. Had a slight problem as the bubble seal was too thick. Very tight to clear the roof when lowering. Will switch that out when I can get the camper out and raise the roof again. Calked up the slide out trim today too. Getting close to being weather tight.

Finished the bottom door this week. Canvased and 5 coats paint. Hung it tonight. Won't open fully with top down but should with top up. Also painted the exposed treated floor and added grit to paint. Used self leveling caulk all around the angle on foor.

Weatherstrip goes on tomorrow.

Really looking good! Looks like something Aliner would come up with!

Another rainy weekend...bolted camper to frame and mounted a grab handle. Added all reflectors.

First time in 3 weeks to push the camper out. Finished the foam today. Sealed most air and moisture prone areas. Used garage door seal for the slide outs. Still have not replaced the slide out seal. Maybe tomorrow. The dog and I are going to try it out tonight. Placed a 24" TV in will probably raise that up more.

Spent the night in it. Slept real good and it was nice to stand up right away inside. Finally got to enjoy the rewards.

Awesome!

I'm seriously considering the side outs my next camper.
I still need man power on the slides but for now they work. So much more floor space 58.5" x 56.75 wide 23 sq feet. Thinking of a booth design looking out the back.
