Okay folks, I'm back! What a hectic set of years we've had, renovating a house, traveling internationally, seeing a daughter through college, getting a son into college, getting married, and more! Still, we never lost our vision and were always thinking about our CTC. So, it sat in our garage until we were ready to get back to it, and, boy, did we get back to it! Actually, it's almost "finished!" The last "big thing" we have to do is our awning. It's mostly done and we just have to finalize the hold points.
We've taken it to several TN state parks and the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park too. It has been a blast and I can't wait to get out and see more. We're meeting my bro in Arkansas beginning October to camp and go crystal digging and we've got tickets to the Overland Expo East at the end of October.
Here’s our rear galley. The shelf on the door holding the stove folds down so the doors can close. The countertop has a hammered aluminum bar sink with a rechargeable faucet that pulls water from the left tank underneath, then the water drains into the right tank. Our 65qt. cooler is on a platform with heavy duty drawer slides so we can push it in under the countertop when it needs to be stored. The vertical and horizontal shelf stacks have plastic baskets for storage of utensils, cleaning products, packaged food, etc.
We talked a lot about methods to keep the baskets from shifting around and dumping their contents. We covered everything from bungees to hinged panels. Our objective was to have something strong, but nothing in the way like eye hooks or brackets when the baskets were in “free” mode. We came up with a perfect method using magnets and a flat steel bar!
Finally, here’s the cabin where we sleep. It’s in “bed mode” in the vid, but it goes into “bench mode” when we’re traveling. So, half of the bed is fixed and the other half is a piece that lifts up and slides over the fixed part to become a bench. You’ll see ample storage with upper and lower cabinets in the V-nose with a butcher block top and LED lights. Then, you’ll see the wall with two windows, then the rear with upper cabinets, the wall with mountain decor and reading lights, and then to the other side with one window, a grab handle, and the door. The bench section along the wall is fixed and is also a huge storage area with an access door on top, under the cushion.
