I like my bottle trap but when camping this might be better if you can find a place to put it where your pets will not get it, you just do not want to let them spill out where bare feet might find them.

Maybe a inclosed tub with wide openings on sides so they can leave and tell there freinds where it is.

Wow! That's a pretty neat trap. I guess I'm lucky I've never had a problem with the little critters to speak of here in KS. A buddy and I went canoeing on the Current River in MO a few years ago and we camped on a gravel bank that had roots coming out of the sides where the dirt starts. It was riddled with, what I call Yellowjackets (2"-3" long) but they never attacked us or even bothered us at all. They would dig small tunnels in the dirt then go out and sting locusts and bring them back to the tunnel, stick them in and cover the hole up. I suppose an egg was laid with the paralyzed body so it would have something to eat when it was born. Crazy, I feared them my whole life because of the size and it was like we were invisible! Fine by me.
Anyway, that's my bug story. I'll remember the tub trick if it's ever have problems.

That's exactly what they do. We have the Locust or Cicada (sp?) Killer wasps here too. I've never had one harass or sting me. I've had ground hornets infest an area around one of our trees. Four years in a row now. They are less than an inch overall and very aggressive. One will hit you three or four times!

We loose around 30 people a year who die from a sting.

I all ways dread it when I see someone swinging at them.
