For my next camper, and first td, I like the shape of the Grumman 2 in the 10’ length. I’ll probably use many of Tony’s ideas from his book but use the shape of the Grumman 2. The link on here doesn’t work but I found the layout on the wayback…
I’ll not inset the wheels like the plan shows. Has anybody followed the layout more or less that has any feedback on the Grumman 2?

Did you end up going forward with this build? I’m planning to use the 10 ft Grumman 2 shape, but I’m almost at the point of cutting my walls and am having second thoughts.

lol Tony are you giving the thumbs up to my question or my hesitation?

The Gruman 2 is easy on the eyes, but I'm wondering how much floor space you lose inside because the front is rolled under?

A long time ago, I built a little 8'-long teardrop for my sister and her husband. He's a graphic artist and insisted on an undercurved front end.

Because of that, along with the undercurve in the rear, they lost 9" of floor space north of the bulkhead. He can't stretch out.

The profile in my book is flat on the front for a reason. It allows for a headboard –which is gold– and lots of storage underneath it.

If I told my wife that I was building another teardrop without a headboard, I'd probably need to hide behind some furniture.

Good luck with your build!

Tony

Thanks! Yes, your point is well-taken. That’s why I’m waffling. We were actually planning on extending the sides to just a shade over 11 feet to account for that curve. The trailer deck is 10 feet long.
