Awning Newbie

I will start right off and say, "Hi, my name is Vernon, and I am an awning newbie" (lol) - I have never installed one before...

The installation is not what I am questioning.. what I am questioning is, the awning came with two gray plastic clips that are not mentioned in the package components list, nor what to do with them in the instruction manual.

I have tried many ideas, in my head, as what they could be for... but I thought I would just toss it out into the world to see if anyone knows..

Possibly clips to hold the crank rod for easy access when at the site?

It is electric (12v) but that does make sense..
