one of my favorite things a is one of those li'l swiss army knives - little blade, file, flat screw driver, tweezers, tooth pick and scissors. all in a 2 or 3 inch pkg ;)

Yes, me too! I carry one in my glove box in my Escape. My boys used to call me "Suvivormom". ;)

I always take my Leatherman tool when I camp of fish. It's one of those things with pliers and a knife and screw driver ect... It's gotten me out of a lot of jams even at home.

Is that the one that comes with a case?

Yes and it has pliers a knive several screwdrivers a can opener, a file a ruler, wire cutters, Ect...

Damn...that's the 'mac daddy' of all-in-one tools!

In the part of town I live in there is a joke that all you really need to fix anything is bailing wire and grey tape.

Miriam told me I needed bailing wire in my toolbox. I guess I better put some in there. :)

Love the case AND the tools. I'm a tool person myself - love power tools. Used a nail gun once at a house rehab and wished I had a reason to own one! Of course, I guess I could use one to build my teardroplet!

 :applause: Welcome Kelly! Think I best head up to Newbies again.

Becca, the last time I used my bailin wire my daughter left her keys in her car. Gratefully she left the window down a bit. We took the antenna off, wrapped the wire around it and got the keys with a hook on it. Worked perfectly! Never forget the bailin wire. Oh yeah and my new duck tape is reflective yellow. Still looking for some pink.

Thanks! And, I think at Michael's and other craft stores you can find all kinds of colors of duct tape (used to make purses and such believe it or not). I might go for the lime green or purple......

Please don't give me more reasons to go buy something else for my camper. I mean, colored duct tape? Now, I guess I am going to have to go drag myself kicking and screaming to Lowe's, Home Depot, Michael's, Cabella's, Bass Pro Shop to look around the whole store to see if they have colored duct tape. I'm only doing it for you ladies so please don't try and talk me out of it. Seriously...don't even try. Oh, and welcome aboard Miss Kelley.

I am doomed! I am flying out to Louisiana tomorrow and my sister already has a day planned to spend at Cabella's in Gonzales, LA. Oooohhhh... :frightened: I feel my wallet getting smaller already.

  Well see! Tell the hubby the wallet is on a diet. He will understand. It's a girl thang.

Now you girls all need a flashing light thing too. Just in case........Oh and in that toolkit you need to put some antibacterial band-aids.

Be careful spending good money on duct tape. Tape made today is just not worth a dime. When I reupholstered the cushions in my 1975 TTT, I had to pull to get the 30 yr old tape off that was covering the staples. Redid the cushions, stapled and applied new duct tape. Tape didn't last three weeks.

Always a good idea to carry a rag (or blue paper towels), some hand GOOP and fold-up emergency reflectors to put in the road along side the disabled vehicle. And make sure that you have a tire iron that fits your trailer's lug nuts.

Prem :)

I have the paper towels in the camper. I also carry one of those 30 dollar 'suitcase' things from kmart... the screwdrivers are not great as they are phillips no. 1. most screw are no. 2.. the wrenches have come in handy as has the chinese knock off vice grips.

I also carry a hammer, wood block, very large channel lock pliers, all to change a wheel bearing if necessary.. and when I bought the torsion axle, I bought a wheel bearing kit, 2 sets of bearing, cotter pins, etc. and a can of bearing grease.

I gotta have that tools on my camping pack also. I envy you for such a girl like you, you've got all that tools.

Don't envy me just make yourself a toolkit and enjoy! I just added a handy spotlight to my tool kit...actually to the Scotty girl. It's a 1 Million Power Spotlight. What I really like about it is that is small and lightweight. It would be good for setting up after dark.

Nice tools Becca! I don't usually take tools camping except for my mallet to drive in tent stakes, but you have inspired me. I think I'll get a tool bag and filler up.

Doris

Thanks Doris! I love my toolkit and have used it almost every time I've camped. Zip ties are the best to have in there. I use them to hold the string lights together, bundle the extension cord, etc. I like them better than duct tape.

Hi Ladies!
Miriam, I have a campers first aid kit that is kept in the Scotty. Got it at Wal-Mart...nice, sturdy red hard-back, zipper case with everything needed in case a boo-boo needs fixin'.

That 1 million power spot light I bought in May is still going strong and I only charged it the day I bought it...thank goodness it's lasting long on one charge because I can't find where I hid the charger!!! :x

I also carry a box of 200 disposable rags in the camper. They have come in handy so many times. They come on a roll and are so much stronger than paper towels. Of course they are also pricer than p. towels so I use them sparingly and only when I clean up when I'm finished camping...then toss in the garbage. Better than having to add to the washing machine.
