Am about to embark on a canned ham build based on this old article. Have built lots of things in life, just not a canned ham. Going to be fun. Windows off Amzn. Siding will be based on Len's tutorial. Door has me stumped at this point as I would love to construct something original lookinh with the same siding skin but would buy extrusions. The big question I have at this point is what do you all use for the exterior corner molding? Between the roof and the walls, has to be flexible for the curves. Want to be able to screw it down from the top for a good seal and of couse caulk it. Once I find out what and where I can get trim I will start. May make a faux wall first to adjust door layout slightly incase I have to go with a std sized commercial door.

The trailer you are referencing. Used a canvas or muslin covering originally. No corner moulding.

Currently you will see people refer to poor man's fiberglass. ( PMF ) Modern equivalent, same general principle. Slightly different materials.

Traditionally a canned ham would have been metal/aluminum sided. ( depending on manufacturer ) it would have had J rail. Sometimes also awning rail/track, across the roof. On the curb side. The roof and front / back ends, overlap the sides by 1/2 to 5/8". And are folded down to the sides. Butyl tape is applied to the back side of the track/rail. And it is screwed on, though the sides. The track/rail is kept about a 1/8" down from the edges. It's not flush with the edges. You'll pre-form the track/rail to the sides. Before you tape it. When you attach it. You screw through the track/rail, the folded over roof/ends, and the side wall.

Butyl tape is preferable to caulking, especially silicone. As it keeps it serviceable. If you've ever had to cut 20 to 30 feet of j rail. Free from your vintage camper, and clean it. Because someone choose to " fix it " with caulk. You'll understand.
