Just to prove if you have patience you can score what you have always wanted real cheap. You all make fun of me and how much cast iron I carry so I have been on the look out for an aluminum DO (they are lighter) and low and behold at a garage sale on Saturday I got this 12" aluminum dutch oven with a lid stand and lid lifter for $2 (yes Two) and the cornbread pan from the neighbor's yard sale for $2! So $4 total I got four things.... man you can't buy manure that cheap! Yes they both cook fine.

I never saw a corn bread plate. I always cook corn bread in my 8" DO.
The Aluminum DO is interesting, Have you used Aluminum before?

I've never seen a cornbread pan with a hole in the middle.

I was gonna pick up a 12" GSI at Sportsmens Warehouse when we went to the IDOS Fall Convention in La Pine. (Oregon's newest city)
I figured on using it for our ice cream recipes, because the rock salt wouldn't do a number on the aluminum.
Unfortunately, the dude that got married in his 22" Maca beat me to the store and bought everyone they had.

A review on the aluminum: It works fine, it cooks evenly but cools very quickly, I am used to cooking food in iron and letting it simmer and stay hot until serving, the aluminum cooled very fast. Clean up was the about the same as iron just boiled it and wipe, no need to spray after. I put it in my stack and it looks real funky with all the black pots and then BLING. The cornbread pan was a pain to clean the points but it cooked well.
