Easier Ways to Put Sheets on a Teardrop Camper Bed

I love my teardrop with its custom bed, however, I’m having a tough time lately putting sheets on it (I’m in my 70’s and it’s hard to crawl under the ledge at the foot). Is there any inventive ways to do this without putting out your back?

Our mattress is two pieces and we pull the bottom half up a few inches over the other half to put the fitted sheet on. After the fitted sheet is installed we push the lower half down to the foot of the bed and it all pops together. If you have a one piece foam mattress get an electric carving knife and cut it in half. We have custom sewn mattress covers to keep all intact. Danny

My mattress is very flexible being foam construction. I can grab a corner and pull it up to put a corner of a fitted sheet on it. The flat sheet just gets spread put on top. Comforter on top of that. Don't tell my wife but I NEVER make the bed in my camper.

I'm closing in on 70. Not there yet but I think next season I will sew a small loop of nylon strap on the far corners of the mattress to make it easier to grab the corner and pull it toward me. It's a solo camper with one door on the curb side so the close corners are not a problem. I might go ahead and sew straps on that side in case I start flipping the mattress. Again, don't tell my wife I've never flipped the mattress!

We have two layers of mattress, and only put the fitted sheet over the top half, which is 3 inches thick. That’s easy to pull up. Sitting on it right now, as a matter of fact.

When I ordered the custom mattress. I had no idea that would be so tough to change. I think a foam rubber topper might be the trick. Thank you.

I had this same issue and finally gave in and got a Beddy's ZipBase set of bedding. It's crazy expensive, but making the bed and swapping out sheets is now a breeze. I signed up for text alerts and ordered when I had a 50% off coupon. The best I've seen is 65% off (of course after I had ordered), which I think they only offer once a year.
