I've taken Classic Finn's design and started creating a model out of it.

I'm not that far along yet, but I wanted to get it posted here so you guys can offer suggestions or whatever...

Here's a model that you can spin around...

Maybe shorter fenders reaching down equally to the frame or bottom edge in the back? Front as well? :thinking:

Ohhh - I know - need to run to the shop and get some Aluminum Polish!!! :LOL: :LOL:

Yes, I am very concerned about those fenders...

Also, you might want to look at where your door bottom starts...

BTW, you know I am not done with the model. But I have no more time to work on it today...
 
(Here is what I received from Cary) I like the name. The Voyageur name has great meaning here in the states. With the French explorers who discovered alot of the inland parts of the US it is a common name. They were refered to Voyageurs, so using that name on a teardrop here in the states would be excellant and very appropriate.

The "Finn Voyageur" I agree with her on it except Is it Voyageur or Voyager? :) The first is more French but ok we,ll see..


Excitement, Excitement.... 8) :D The Building will start shortly, now that
the trailer frame has been galvanized.. I,ll post photos as we progress.

Finn and Mike,, dang good looking model,, I have to agree about the fenders though,, they need some work,, raise them a couple inches or something,, when is the start date Finn??????

Chip Thank You! We really like it....

The wife and I like the Modernaire or Modernistic and The Camp Inn..
But there is one setback - We cant afford the Camp Inn so we decided
to give a try in building a teardrop with the likings of both styles in one somewhat.... of an "Aerodynamic Look"..or is it better said, a touch of New to an Original?

We,ll have the Coker Whitewalls installed to the Smoothie Rims then we
have to go over to a machinist to have the exact Bolt Pattern done on the
hubs since there are none available here with the American 5 bolt pattern..

So its a little bit of "redoing" before we can start but shortly there after
we get to advance ... Ohh Boy I can hardly wait.. :D

We are waiting for our (Expensive) - Cost + Shipping + Import Duty Aero Fiberglass Fenders as well so .. but we,ll have what we really like and wait to have all the pieces and parts in front of us...and do some test fitting.

...a note to Mike, et al...the Cortona Graphics viewing pkg has beta plugin for Mozilla/Netscape browsers, it is V5.0beta available on the same page you have listed...it works for both Mozilla and Explorer...to make it work properly on my system(Mozilla) browser I had to choose "open GL" rendering, I have an older (cheaper) graphics card that doesn't support directxV9 very well which is your other choice.

...Very, very nice, other than the fender thing the only thing I would add is runnig board...maybe in an open rail configuration to go with the sleighs used in winter times. As to names, Finnish Voyageur and Finnish Flyer are both great names so a coin toss may be in the works...great work y'all

p,s, Voyageur has a French taste to it, while Flyer has a more American flavor
 
I just downloaded the beta and tested it in Firefox.... it still displays better in Internet Explorer...

What I noticed is that in Firefox, all the textures turned white.

In Internet explorer, all the textures displayed properly...

Just for sh*ts and giggles... here's what the wrl looks like launched from Firefox... (it passes the variables to explorer, but obviously misses a bunch...)

Finn, you might think about a 3" - 4" drop axle and then maybe droping the body 4" - 5" over your frame (like channeling a car). Then the upward adjustment of the fender wouldn't be that much and should sit right. Just a thought. I have a 4" drop axle on mine and the body is hung over the frame by 5".

Mike I like that for sure.. a travel tv in the middle for ..which will most likely be the flat style television.. ohhh boy ...
