First 5x8 square Drop Build

Side & hatch doors are cut. The hatch door is a 1x4 frame with 3/4" foam board inside. The outside skin is 1/4" plywood that will be covered in PMF. The inside is 1/5" underlay plywood that will be painted. The side doors are the cut outs from the side walls. They will be covered in PMF. The framing is for the windows and to attach the interior paneling to.

I'm posting these progress videos rather than individual pictures because I want a full video history of this build. I try to keep them short so y'all don't get bored.

That's some good lighting! A friend suggested I also do lights up top, I think I like that idea

What sort of latches are you using for the rear hatch?

I used these. They work great and are easy to install. Only downside is that they are not keyed alike. It's a minor inconvenience.

I had a pair of Suspa 17"/55lb struts that I pulled from a travel trailer that I wanted to use on my hatch. I called Suspa and one of their engineers gave me the mounting point for the door. I put them on and the door went up on it's own and down easily, but they wouldn't hold it open. I called the engineer & after researching the serial #, he said they were 19 years old - past their lifetime and then some. I ordered a pair of Suspa branded struts from Amazon and after a major shipping fiasco, I got them and installed them - They work great. The struts were $22.00 for the pair and I used the mounting brackets from the old struts. No more painter's pole holding up the hatch while I'm working on the trailer.

It's been a while since I posted anything. I'm having issues getting materials in a timely manner. I must have made someone at Amazon mad - In the last month I've had 4 orders not show up, 5 that took 5 - 6 days - I had 2 more late shipments show up after I uploaded the video. (Prime 2 day shipping - not!). The irony is that we have a fullfillment center in OKC about 23 miles from my house.

I'm not surprised. Amazon is a total crapshoot these days. So much so that I canceled my prime and now just wait for things.

That being said, the trailer looks amazing! Nicely done.

Thank you. Appreciate the knid words. The only upside is that on a couple of the late ones that ginally showed up, Amazon refunded the cost of them, so my struts and charging ports were on them.
