Hi Ladies
Older age has me going pee a couple of times during the night. My hubby wants to build a Teardrop trailer and we can't figure out how to solve this problem. right now, we tent with a pee pail in the tent that I empty in the morning. any suggestions?? Do you design a portapotty in the sleeping space??

i dont have a ttt yet, but that is a factor that i must take into my design. right now with my tent, i just put the porta potty inside.

That's an easy one... you make your teardrop a little bit longer, and add a porta potty which you can dump in the morning...

Here the porta potty is in the front of the teardrop...

And here the porta potty is in the rear...

Mike...

I don't have a TD but I have seen quite a few of them on here with porti pottie space built in. There is a build in process right now ... I will go find the thread shortly...where a man is building in a PP for his wife.

Having given birth lots of times, I haven't sleep through a night without getting up to pee in many, many years. Usually I get up 4 or 5 times which is why I have to have a "standie" (a trailer you can stand up in).

These are great for inside the tear: Travel John And this is great for outside the tear: Outback Porta-Privy
I use both as I feel they are teardrop essentials. However, every time someone ponders putting an actual porta potti in a teardrop, the idea "usually" doesn't work because of space. I love my porta privy for showering and a changing room too. It's great and it's up and down in an instant! Hope this helps.

Wow Mike, that's awesome. Of course when you build your own like that, you are the master of your own destiny.

I can't imagine using a potty in an average TD. It would have to be at least a stoopie for me. I have a popup with a potty that rides under the table. It's not pretty and one day I will make a "cozy" for it.

I try to camp as close to a loo as possible. I also do things like cut back on liquids at night. Of course when it's over 30 (which is probably high 80s) in July & August, it's not always easy.

I stopped camping with a former friend because he would drink himself stupid at night, then pee wherever he thought he was not seen. If I had to walk to the washroom, so could he. I thought I didn't like camping anymore, but now I realise that I don't like him.

I like the idea of portapotties, but not the cleanup.

 That's hilarious (and sincere too I'm sure).

No clean up with your porta potti using this: Wag Bags A little pricey but worth it. I build my wag bags up by adding a little kitty litter to the poo gel already in it. Works great. Zip it closed and "legally" toss it in the trash bin. No mess.

My TD isn't all that big but it has room for a loo.........If you get the right one it isn't all that messy. We try to keep liquids only...........

If you want to stay with the teardrop, you might consider a longer tear, maybe a kenskill shape but hid the portapotti in the closet up front in the nose. put some doors on it, you could sit on it and have your feet on the pillow., it would work

John

PS. Last weekend while camping, we (wife & I) just got up, took the short walk to the camp pottys. it was only 27 degrees. At home, you at least walk down to hall everynight. you could do it

I always walk to the bathroom with my wife at night. Its nice to stop and look at the stars. The parks are different at 3 in the morning.

Gatorade bottles work fine.

Hmmm  Okay really, I'm not talking jock talk here buuuut, that would be kind of a tight fit for me. And a woman wouldn't stand a chance!

Oh Yeah, I forgot! Gatorade bottles have a wider opening ... So ahh no, that wouldn't be too tight a fit for me  ... but it would still be a tough shot for women.

I have a 5x8 teardrop and attach a "changing room" to the side (might have pics in my album, can't remember) but I have the 5 gallon bucket/liner and Fresh Step kitty litter ... bought a snap on luggable loo seat at Bass Pro for about $10 that has a lid so that's good .

It's very handy during the day too , when you are camped quite a ways from the bath house .

With my td I place a potty just outside the one door. The wind screen is set up for maximum privacy.

During the day the wind screen gets tied up.
