So I'm going to be looking to DIY a Tear-Drop trailer starting in 1-2 years or so. Fingers-crossed I get to partially retire in 2-3 years and so I want to be ready to make the most of the extra time off. I've already got some broad strokes roughed out but definitely looking to steal practical ideas and solutions from the crowd that has already been-there and done-that. While I am very handy across a broad spectrum of DIY skills, I have never tried to do something that puts them all together in one package like this will. looking forward to learning and, not to put too fine a point on it, stealing your ideas!

Someone once put these words in a book about building teardrops:

Keep this in mind: I don’t think anyone has all the skills needed to build a teardrop until they’ve done it. Don’t be intimidated. There are two things you need to possess to undertake this project: persistence and a willingness to learn. The skills required are the ones you learn as you build. Teardrops are built in steps. Just take each a step at a time and you’ll get it done.

Welcome aboard,

I built mine a little over two years ago. At the time, I didn't have most of the tools needed, nor would I have claimed my woodworking skills were, what you'd call "developed".

It turned out great, hasn't shown ANY signs of water ingress, and has been seriously put through its paces.

There are definitely things I would change when I build another one, but overall, I love ours.

The point I'm trying to make is the same as Tony. It's not hard, especially if you draw on the vast knowledge of the folks on this forum.

Plan everything out, take your time, ask lots of questions, and I'm sure it'll turn out fantastic!

Welcome to the rabbit hole.
