I haven't made any cooking tools. I like that license plate wind barrier you have.

I recently saw a cooking gizmo called a skottle. https://tembotusk.myshopify.com/product ... kottle-kit

With a burner this thing is over $300. I'm thinking no way. Recently a guy had one on a trip, it did a great job cooking, but it's really just a plow disk on legs.

I had a plow disk in the garage, so I've started down the path of making one. I broke out my grinder to trim a piece of steel to plug the axle hole, then started welding.

I posted about a trivet made from rebar two years ago Dutch oven trivet.

Since then I have made several more including one that fits an 8 inch DO. I am pleased with the way these work. They provide plenty of stability for the pot or lid. They are compact and store inside their intended pot. Depending on the bolts you use, they are adjustable in height.

The main problem I had was bending the rebar. I would blame that on my deficient metalworking knowledge.

Otherwise they are pretty easy to assemble. All you need are a few spot welds.

I have enjoyed having these around. I use them a lot.

I have all kinds of homemade cooking gadgets. My most used one though is my Rally rim burner that I made out of a 16" rally rim, three horse shoes, some black iron pipe, cooking grate and a bayou classic propane burner. Originally built it for my homemade discada. I also use it with my dutch ovens, wok, paella pan, etc.
