Hurricane Hinge to be installed on a square drop. The galley door is 90deg from the roof when open. Strange that I cannot find a reference image to answer my question, but in what direction is the hinge installed?

Direction "A" where the galley door will be offset 1/4" above the roof (imagine that where my hand is there is a galley door)

Or Direction "B", where the galley door is offset 1/4" below roof. I am leaning towards B, but would appreciate your thoughts

Thanks!

You want the rain to NOT get into the curled part that's the actual hinge. So direction A is what you want.

Hopefully, you haven't cut your hinge to length yet. You want it to project an inch beyond the walls to shed water away from your walls and the body/hatch seal.

Not cut, still have a good 2 inches on each side. Is the standard install to put butyl tape under the aluminum or is caulking enough? The 'sandwich' in my case is that the wood beam that will carry the hinge will be covered by PMF/paint.
