The Ingrid plastics company of Chicago is no more but occasionally you can still find the party balls on sale at goodwill, e-bay, and even a yard sales.

A soccer ball sized orb that can provide you with 6 sets of plates, saucers, and bowls with 2 mixing bowls and a serving tray. In the original set there were six matching little juice glasses but they never seem to survive in the sets as they were really too small to be practical. But I do love these sets. For a small space they pack well and provide color coded settings for 6.

I was yard "sailing" yep sailing from one yard sale to another and look what I found....

I have a set dedicated full time to the barn and a second set in the teardrop and a 3rd set in the caboose.
These are some extra backups :laughter:

It's almost as bad as castironitis

Perfect small space nesting table setting.. Mine was unfortunately ruined when my storage space flooded and i discovered it filled with mystery fluid and it went out with everything else.. :(

Those party balls cost some bucks on e-bay!

Oooh - just the lead-in I was looking for. I bought 2.9 of these Ingrid party / picnic balls on ebay a while ago. I never use them (I don't camp really, I just sleep in my Little Guy Joey while driving to and from some place). So I'm looking to get these Ingrid's to someone who will care about them!

All I want is the shipping, and 1 or all of these are yours! (The .9 is missing a bowl or two; I can take it apart and count, if you want to know.) Or free pickup in the Aurora, IL area. Anybody?

Deb

Darn. I went and LOOKED at them again. "Don't look, Ethel!" Now I remember how cute they are. I may have to keep one set for myself, just on principle. Still, that leaves 1.9 sets to get rid of. At least.

If I didnt have a nice set of blue spatter enamelware I would take you up on the offer. Im sure someone will want to get their party ball on..

Deb,

My wife is going to kill me, but if you will let me know how much for shipping to 66049, I would take one off your hands. I tried to PM you and got an error message. Maybe if you PM me, it will work.

I remember those from the early 80's, If I recall correctly, there was a Cocacola promotion in Peru, where you took several bottle caps and a coupon to get them, I remember having breakfast, lunch and dinner on those for many years while camping.

I've used a red party ball in our camping gear since the early 80s. Love it.

One thing I've noticed in recent years, though, is that I need to keep a hawkeye on the dishes when using them in a group setting. The red color and weight of the plates and bowls are very similar to the disposable kinds that are in the stores now. I've had to search garbage cans for my dishes several times when friends and family automatically throw them away. Not fun!

Got a great deal on one of these on Etsy a couple of years ago.

We used it a couple of times, but found that the plates scratched so easily, even with plastic silverware. It had never been used when we got it, and after literally just a couple of gentle uses, they looked beat. Not thrilled about that.

We don't take Ingrid camping anymore, but still may put it back in the rotation at some point, and swap out with some new plates. Just really glad I got it for cheap. Love the concept.

I also had a turquoise one somewhere that I bought about the same time, now that I think of it. Not Ingrid brand. All the plates and utensils were one color, like a robin's egg blue, and it wasn't round, but more dutch oven shaped. Liked it much better. Gotta go looking for it now...what the **** did I do with it? This one even had a little salt and pepper shaker to match, and also had heavy duty matching utensils! Here's a pic from my album:

I saw a ingrid party ball at the Bootfair last weekend. I did not ask how much in fact I went wide on it for fear that I may buy it. It was cool to see one in the wild.

Great... something else AWESOME, and difficult to find that I need to add to my camping gear collection!
But seriously, those are pretty cool!
