I built a teardrop camper for my recumbent trike. It weighs 65 lbs. I built the trailer with 1x2s and thin plywood. The sides are made of coroplast.

That's great!

I take it that there is somewhere nearby that you can cycle to and camp?

Yes, I'm going to cycle and camp on the C&O canal. It's not far from where I live. Lots of camping on the Potomac River.

The floor dimensions are 40" wide overall but the sleeping area is 30" wide because of the wheel wells. The length is 6' 2". I am 6' so I sized it for me. The side walls at the tallest point is 42" I wanted to be able to sit up inside.

How did you join the pieces of coroplast? I made a tail box for my recumbent bike from coroplast and learned that I could not glue it. I used nylon wire ties and covered it all with white plastic tape.

My first piece of coroplast was an election sign that I liberated from a fence on the evening after the election. Saved the candidate the trouble of taking it down

Happy cycling and teardropping

I used zip ties and then duck tape over the edges to join the pieces of coroplast. It works pretty well.

That is fabulous! And your camping along the river plan sounds like a wonderful time. Enjoy.

I'm using Bike Campers for inspiration to build a Pop-Up to tow behind my Cushman Scooter for a run up and down the Natchez Trace Parkway this year.

Doris,

Nice concept! I've thought of doing that, too.

I know it's a bit late to chime in, but consider the new Flextape if and when the duck tape starts to fail. I've used it a couple of times on my teardrop. Also, did you try that E6000 craft glue? I've read on the RC forums that if you scuff/sand the surfaces first, a few different glues will work - Goop, E6000, 5-minute epoxy, DAP Weldwood to name a few.
