Ok...I'll keep this as succinct as possible.
I suffered a massive stroke 5 years ago and I'm lucky to be alive. But my walking was compromised in a big way, and I still have many residual health issues stemming from the event.
After significant rehab post-stroke my life obviously changed dramatically. Not wanting to waste any time I had left, I decided to live each moment fully. No more humdrum, idle existence.
I found the whole nomad movement online, researched heavily for about a year, and then moved into my car and hit the road. I've been living in my vehicle - successfully & comfortably - for 4 years. It was one of the best moves I ever made, and I love this lifestyle. However...
My residual health issues are becoming greater. Being in a car is starting to wear thin and is presenting challenges.
I need something larger where I have room to stand up, stretch my legs, walk around, etc. Additionally, due to bowel issues which have recently worsened, having a small portable toilet is key.
I was close to pulling the trigger on a high top aluminum truck shell - which I posted about in another section here - but that never came to fruition.
Then I thought about foamies. I've been researching them for years. They're fairly inexpensive to build, lightweight, durable, and so forth. This is obviously the solution that I'm seeking.
I recently lost out on a gorgeous slide-in truck foamie online because another buyer beat me to it. I've been down in the dumps over it for a few days now. But...instead of laying down for the count, I'm choosing to fight again, just like I did after my stroke.
That's where you guys come in
I'm looking for a good soul that would like to help me build one as a project. And yes, I can pay for this. While my budget isn't large, I'm hoping there's someone out there reading this who will choose to get involved and change a person's life for the better.
My needs are VERY simple. I basically want a stand-up height box (6'1"-6'2") that can slide into a truck bed. No electrical, nothing fancy. It just needs to be durable, well made, and as waterproof as possible to minimize any water leakage. I can send you photos of the foamie I lost out on, as it was perfect for me in every way. It's a great template.
Bonus points if you're in the northeast (DE, PA, NJ, NY, etc.), as we'd be local to each other, and I wouldn't have to pay for shipping after it's built.
*It's important that you've actually built a foamie before. While these aren't incredibly complex to make, there's a lot that goes into them, and they need to be done right. Experience counts here. I do consider this an art.
If anyone out there thinks that they can help, let me know. I'd be happy to speak on the phone to share more information, and so that we can get to know each other better.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you'd consider helping out.
