New Build - 6*12 Offroad Toy Hauler

I will be about 30 minutes east of Grand Island off I-80 near York. I will be headed that way Tuesday next week if all goes well. Going to take a few days working my way out there and dry camping along the way.

Spent some time doing some maintenance and a few minor repairs. Had to take out the AC and re level it. I have had some problems when trailer is not perfectly level with the condensation pan overflowing before draining. Turns out, I must have leveled the shelf during build without the trailer perfectly level. The shelf was off whereas the AC would have a slight tilt forward. In any case, shimmed the AC to slightly leaned back and retrimmed. AC and drain working perfectly now. Touch screen Radio is all working now with good antenna as well. In any case, all prepared for my dog and I to live in for about a Month while traveling.

This is the back of the AC with drain. A few folks have asked me how I did it. Need to vent the tube to prevent air lock and poor flow. Works nicely.

I put the Air Shroud back around the rear of the AC when I was done leveling properly.

I did sorta go crazy with stickers today. I had a bunch and all that white on the appliance stack needed some character. Couldn't help myself. Lol

Back from Nebraska. I really like this CTC. Everything worked well and was comfortable for the 3 weeks I was away from home.

It fits just about anywhere and I don't have to be concerned pulling into any place for gas or etc.. Tracks well.

Pic is in my son's driveway as I was getting ready to head back south.

Newby here (first post)in the gathering info stage,
Your build is amazing and covers pretty much everything. Just spent a week going through it.
For me, a person with limited to no experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc., your build is unrealistic. Not sure exactly what I want other than to be able to tow it (smaller tv) when needed and thus why I'm considering a ct conversion. A trailer builder down the street from me want north of $12,000 for a trailer with only a few things including insulation, wiring, AC, etc. Colorado Trailers want $18,000 + for half of what you included in your build.
My plan is to sell my small boat for around $10,000 and that should provide some funds and a place to put future build.
Are you aware of a good place to start for a simple 6x12? I'm more of a imper perfectionist and functionality over form. Just want to build a bug out platform. Probably need a lot of bungee cords to keep all the loose things secure.

Thanks for all of the information, wisdom and knowledge that you have provided in your posts,

Bob, a fellow Floridian getting hammered right now by a tropical system coming your way from the South.

Southside.. how you do with Helene and Milton. We got Milton over us at CAT 1 going offshore on East Coast. Wasn't too bad. I had no damage.

Let me know if you need any info when you start building. I can try to help.

I have plans to head out to Quartzsite, AZ and areas beyond in middle of Jan 2025. Will be out in the BLM areas like I did in 2023. Added an articulating hitch for this trip. I thought I was going to break my hitch or bend the trailer tongue a few times as I went through washes and etc. I went with the Lock N Roll type.

Pics.. cut old off and added new: I still need to paint, reinstall the break away switch and propane tank, but the heavy lifting is done.

Thanks. Mine is extended also along with a third member for strength. The issue I was having is the jack handle. It is forward with the A-Frame hitch welded on. My tailgate would hit the handle if I just dropped it. Now with the new hitch and receiver, I have plenty of room.

I got the hitch painted today and reinstalled the propane tank. About 8 weeks out from taking the CTC out West to the desert. I am sure this new articulating hitch will improve off-road performance significantly.

Curious... Is the Tow Vehicle side of that hitch currently swiveled upside down ? I would think that the trailer should drop in front the top, and the latch over the top. The image looks like the trailer side comes up from the bottom, making the latch carry the tongue weight.

Maybe I got it wrong.....

Good eye! It is upside down in the picture. It swivels 360 degrees.

I came very close to pulling the trigger on these awhile back so I'm super curious to see if they help your mileage. They were all the rage 10-15 years ago but I haven't seen any on semis for awhile.

In my experience they do nothing measurable for milage, but make a noticeable difference in stability during crosswinds and with that sucking in a spitting out large vehicles cause when they approach from behind.

Also, I think they look cool. [emoji23]
