It would be good if you could put the following info on your first post on here.

Hi Felixx,
I'm a Kiwi living in S.E. Michigan for past 40-odd years and recently obsessed with building a teardrop or tiny trailer. My hobby has been building custom cars and have 4 that can haul. I've designed two of them so that the seats fold down to make a double bed so I don't understand my obsession with teardrops but perhaps it's the idea of building something cool again. I retire in 2 years and plan to spend Summer 2017 in NZ doing a top to bottom re-acquaintance tour. I'm glad to see Kiwis doing this. Not surprising given we are such DIY s and tinkerers. Anyway good luck with the build and perhaps I can follow it here.

Where do you shop to get things like Hurricane Hinges, etc.

I looked all over for hurricane hinge in NZ. As far as I could see no one in NZ has them. Others I have been in contact with have found the same. I did not want to bring one from overseas for risk of it getting bent it transit, so I used 3 large stainless steel hinges from Bunnings and they have worked well. Check my build and my travels, I have made mention of it in our Kaihu trip.

There are gear hinges and hurricane hinges avaliable here in aus.
I'm thinking of going the piano hinge direction this week

Bantam, I too am in that club.
I WILL DO NATS NEXT YEAR!

If I get a new job

I am in North Canterbury , and I'm always interested in getting out for a weekend away. Although my teardrop plans are a long way off being started , I am happy to throw the camper on the pickup and get some miles done.

Hi Dusty, would like to join you some time, but it might be a bit far for a weekend!

Hello. I am in dunedin and have just started work on my tear. Looking forward to getting out in it

Welcome from the other end of the country :shake hands:
start a build journal and keep us posted on progress. We like to see lots of :pictures:

Hi

Just north of Tauranga here. Have the trailer base but have not really started the build yet, though have a bunch of materials - need to build a workshop first! Planning on a glass-over-ply finish, and plan to emulate the AtmaTravelear teardrop to the best of my abilities - that is a truely beautiful piece of work.

cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick, Frank here in Whangarei. Welcome :shake hands: All the best for your build, keep us informed :pictures:
We were down your way a few weeks back with Teardrop in tow.

Welcome Nick , I hope you can keep us in the picture with your build . I really like the lines of the Atma TT and especially the way the deck lid curves right around and tucks under at the bottom. :)
