While I was up at the IRG, someone asked me...."so Doug, what's the new craze?". I guess I've gotten a reputation for starting crap like that, I told them, don't worry, it's all picked out and we are currently field testing it. Well, here it is!

I've always been a sales type person and promoter of nonsense so this fits right in. We've gone through the waffle iron phase, pushed the Coleman products, and through the findings of Rich and Penny, the waffle dog which resulted in skyrocketing prices and someone doing some repops on them. Now, through Kevin's diligence and tenacity we present..........The Cloverleaf Doughnut form! Can you imagine FRESH doughnuts when camping! Well, we had them at our annual Wolf Creek campout!

These first appeared probably in the teens, we have no official date on them for sure, I came up blank on the patent number on it. There were 2 manufacturers on them. ALB and ACE. The ace is a bit larger than the ALB, and there are 6 "holers" available as well. We have an authentic recipe and it can be easily doctored with flavors and the center isn't completely hollow so a drop of jams/ jellies, cream filling etc...will work great! We made pumpkin spiced ones, chocolate and a nutmeg flavored doughnut. Easy to do, right on the Coleman stove! We filmed a video, but it leaked out, so we figured we needed to go ahead and let the proverbial cat out of the bag. Several of us already have the irons in our possession. Another fun item for camping and a bit unusual. Now to start working on an official association with a patch in program.....hmmmmmmm

They are tough to come by so keep your eyes open, however, more may start appearing on e-bay as the interest grows. While we didn't use the 6 holer, I wouldn't get carried away trying to find one of them....they would be tough to pour all 6 and use it as they are very heavy and they don't pour quickly.

I believe that Dean has a video he can post as well. Doug

Really? Do they come out better than these?

:
Probably not, but they aren't deep fried either if that is a health issue for you.

I think my pumpkin doughnuts were the crowd favorite. "Well King Author Flours recipe" I brought three home and they were even better when cool.

The latest ebay auction more than doubled the going rate. So, they are already getting pricey!

Hi Doug
How are the patches coming??
I am in!!!! ;)
Will be printing your recipe.
But Sandi eats gluten free, and sugar free??? :frightened: So if I take out those ingredients all that is left is butter, milk & egg?? :x
"Omelett Donuts"?????????????? :?

PS
God I Love ebay!!!!

Okay, I was holding back my excitement and official announcement until I had it in my hands. :D
But, today we headed to the USA to pick up all of my ebay purchases from over the last month...which included my new (never used and in original box) Ace Co. Cloverleaf Doughnut Maker.
It is here!!!! :applause: :applause:
Let the practicing begin! We will be up for the challenge in 2015. :R :R
Happy New Year

Wow... I love finding new old stuff! My Aunt and I are gluten allergy/intolerance, she has Celiac disease. I usually dont eat gluten free products( GF bread, pasta etc)just do without. BUT a doughnut would be awesome... Anyone have a GF recipe. This would give me a reason to go junking in search of a cast iron doughnut maker. My kettle corn in the whirlypop at camp is a hit With the kids.Doughnuts would surely make me their favorite aunt LOL. Some of the kiddos like to help cook. They would love this. My cousins and I start talking food for our annual July camp by May. Gotta look up this waffle dog thing. If anyone wants a kettle corn recipe let me know :D

We managed to lay our hands on a couple and have been perfecting our favorite recipes in preparation for the Dam. Can't wait!
