We need a place to show off the quilts. I'll start, this is my Red Swan quilt made for my Teardrop. It is just a top and still needs to be quilted. Winter fun. 8)

The small swans are 8"x8" and the large is 16"x16". The quilt measures 82" square and is a perfect fit for the bed area.

Love the swans. Is there any significants to the swans. My quilt is still rolling around my thoughts. Iv'e collected a whole lot of travel themed fabric. Not sure what pattern maybe attic windows. I also want a bunch of throw pillows. I did use some of the licence plate fabric for the curtains.

 Mary, Attic Windows with travel fabric will be pretty. No significance to swans I just like them. When the Swan Lake Barbie came out I bought all the grandaughters one and made my oldest grandaughter a blue and white with the swans. Hers is a diamond pattern and is very nice. :D

Can't wait to see yours posted here. ;)

WOW!!! Very Nice Aunit M!  :applause: :applause:

Can I send you my favorite quilt to fix!!! I'v had it for 25 years and it looks it, but I love it, cool in the summer warm in the winter!!!

Miriam...here's what I've done for the Rocketear...lower right on the gray is the American flag on a pole...I have all the planet names quilted into it, rocketships, aliens, and some of the more famous quotes from the space program, even Neil Armstrongs boot print...Doug

Oh that is so going to go with the rocketear. I love the bright colors with the gray. So where is the back? I was hoping for the stiching too. ;)

Yup Rocky....I did include Pluto...as well as Uranus...now that is 1 planet that is the "butt" of jokes....I know some of you out there have quilts in your tears...got pics? Doug

What I was amazed to find out is how much a quilt can be worth.
My mother-in-law is very good at quilting. She took one in to have the quilting? done (is that where they sew in the pattern). The lady offered her $3K for it. That was about 5 years ago. It was a gift she was making for my daughter so she declined.

I told her she should have sold it.

Doug, two questions..... do you sleep? and is there anything you don't do?

No...the quilt keeps me awake at night, and I refuse to pay for something that I think I might be able to learn or do...I'm Scottish...Doug

Hi Miriam,

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful! I'm envious of your skills.

I'm just finishing the top to my first-ever quilt. It's just random blocks but I really needed the sewing practice. I have some beautiful frabric for a future quilt, but I'm going to do at least one more (probably the Dawg quilt) before I start cutting into that fabric.

I'm fortunate to have a friend who has a long-arm quilting machine at his house. I have the back almost put together and the batting is sitting in a chair right next to me. I just have to take the time to finish it. I'll post a picture of the top in the next day or so.

Hey Doug,

Those aren't real pictures on your quilt!! They were taken at some super secret sound stage..... Ooops. Wrong forum. I should be posting that one on the Foil Hat forum.

Your quilt is just perfect for your trailer. It's really going to complement and tie together the whole Rocketear theme.

:applause: That is nice to hear. I sure wish I had a friend with a machine. Mine will be hand quited if I ever find a material to make a back with.

If not I will be making another real fast.

TDN said, "No", to the idea of me buying a sewing machine and something about obsessive compulsive or something along those lines...
Only caught part of it, 'cause I was thinking about all the cool awnings and side enclosures that I could do for the tear with one.

 Whatever keeps you home at night. Seriously if you get too many addictions you need to win the lottery. The problem with quilting and sewing in general is they come out with new fabric every holiday and season. :? :money:

Hi Miriam! What a fabulouis design! I love pieced quilts! so clever! Here is my tesselating stars. Top only. I"m now wondering, after 35 degree nights, and 60 degree nights, how heavy a batting to use. Any suggestions? I already have a thermal blanket and a orlon blanket, but at 35 we needed my old comforter as well. We look forward to trips to the west, Newfoundland. But storage of comforter on hot nights was the car-so bulky. Feed back welcome. Thanks, Nancy

Here's one of my wife's quilts, but she won't let me put it anywhere near the teardrop. I'll have to stick with the Walmart special for warmth.

Wow two in a day. Those are beautiful. Thank you both.

Nancy the Tesselating star is what we always called a Friendship Star. You have a variation in it but so appropriate for your teardrop. I have a gortex batting for my camping quilt. You can get wool also but the gortex is washable and much lighter weight. You do need to leave some loft in it. I made a baby quilt with it and it is very warm. If you think you will need it warmer you can always double the batting. Oh and wait for a sale. They are costly.

Pbb those are some of my favorite colors. It is hard to think of putting so much work into something and take it camping. However Doug has convince me it is only right my teardrop have a theme.

Any excuse right! You can always make your own 8)

Now... you got me going on that quilt search again. Since our theme is Yosemite I found this pattern of Yosemite Falls that will yield a 27" x 47" quilt. Now all we need to do is find someone locally to make it so we can stitch it into a store bought comforter. I hope it doesn't cost an arm and two legs. :D Danny
