recommended door height

About to layout the position of my 26x36 premade door and wondering the recommended height from the interior floor ? some folks I have heard suggested make sure the mattress is above the door seal

You want the door opening halfway into the mattress height. Otherwise, when you sit in the doorway–and you'll do it when entering and egressing–you'll be sitting on the wall.
